Finally told my Mom!

I am so glad that you sound "pleasantly surprised" by her reaction and offer of post-surgery support. I was very grateful that my mom came and stayed with me (Wisconsin to Philadelphia) for a month while I recovered, it is not just anyone that you can whine about "gas pain" to.... The woman who changed your diapers can handle talking a little gas!

I would definitely take her up on the offer to come out when you have surgery. My mom came from Utah to New Jersey for 3 weeks when I had mine. It was really nice to have someone to remind me to drink my water, take my medicine, go walking, change my bandages, etc...
It was also nice to have someone to drive me around for the first couple of days... plus it was just really nice to have 3 weeks all to myself with my mom. Usually when I see her, it's at her house, where all those other pesky family members are around and think THEY need time with her too.
She has been super supportive of the whole thing from the beginning, which ahs been great.
