"Oh Yeah" shakes and bars

Hi all -

Just a quick heads up that I just tried the Oh Yeah protein shake after my workout this morning and was shocked at how good it was.  No chalky texture, no chemical aftertaste, tasted like actual chocolate milk.

14 ounces
210 calories
32 grams protein
3 grams sugar + 3 grams sugar alcohols
9 grams fat

It's a little high in the fat, but it was a genuinely pleasant treat after my workout.  Thursday I'll try the Vanilla.

I've tried their bars before and actually thought they tasted decent too - more like a candy bar than a protein bar.  But if you're trying out the bar, be really careful to make sure you're getting the small one - that's 180 calories.  The large size bar is over 400!

Hope that helps people!

Hmm where did you get it from? Have you ever tried the Biggest Loser protein? I've been waiting to hear if anyone has tried it.

I get them at the gym, but I've seen them for sale at GNC as well.

Nope, never tried the biggest loser anything.

Since I'm new at this,, 7 days post-op, I don't know from  big time Protein shakes yet but I have been toying around with the chocolate carnation instant breakfast shakes I have to use right now.

I add a tablespoon of dutch cocoa to the mix and sometimes a 1/4 tsp (or more) of cinnamon..

yummy

Heya J!

Just a quick warning: carnation instant breakfast shakes were specifically banned from my program because of their high sugar/carb content causing dumping in some patients after they got out a certain distance from the surgery.

You might want to look into other shakes to work with.  I personally suggest Syntrax Nectar, but everyone's different.

I really like a protein shake by Premier Nutrition and called "Protein".  Whodathunkit?  It's milk based, 3 grams of fat and 30 grams of protein, and 5 gr carbs for an 11 oz. container.  Because I live on a rock in the middle of the Pacific, product availability is sometimes sketchy, but I have found it in cases at Costco.  The only flavor they've carried is chocolate so I don't know if other flavors are available.  It's by far the best tasting I've had.  It doesn't have the protein (gag) taste.

This is what I use too.  They also make protien bars with the same stats.  High Protien and low carb!  Costco rocks these!

I like the Oh Yeah products......I like the BSN Dessert Chocolate and Vanilla even more.  :)

As for the Biggest Loser Protien stuff....NO!!!  I guess I shouldn't say no, but i TOTALLY hated it.  IN fact, I was gagging before even getting it to my mouth because the smell sent me over the edge.  The taste is okay and really is explosive, but I just couldn't get over the smell.
