One Week Down

Well, a week ago today I was having my surgery. You guys were right. That was the hard part. I can't believe how fast I feel better. When I got home I felt like some one kicked me in the gut a hundred times. Now I honestly don't have much unless I do something stupid. I've only had to take my pain killers once.

I'm moving around a lot more than I expected. I managed to walk almost a mile last night and I'm thinking about trying to walk over to my gym next door today and hit the treadmill nice and easy. And I'm pretty much all my fluids in. I'm trying to get as much protein as I can but I'm finding some stuff makes me feel like I swallowed a brick.

Oh! And I lost 11lbs! I know they say don't weigh yourself at first, but tell me you guys didn't peek at the scale LOL

Congrats! You are doing great. It is amazing how fast you get to feeling better. Just remember to take it easy and sip sip sip walk walk walk.

I can't believe the day has already come and gone...

Congratulations on the beginning of your new life.
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!

A piece of advice:  Don't weigh yourself every day at this point, no matter how tempted you are.  Go for once a week, or once every two.

You may lose like gangbusters, you may lose more slowly.  But if you had the RNY there will be plateaus.  Some seem to happen to everyone so regularly you can set your watch by them; between the 3rd and 4th week, for example, you will likely not lose any weight.  THIS IS NORMAL.  But when it happened to me, no one had told me to expect it so it freaked me the hell out.

If you weigh once a week, you'll miss the days where you unexpectedly gain weight (this will happen, it's normal - it's your body trying to maintain its original state or replacing los****er), or don't lose anything.

If you do weigh yourself every day, keep in mind that these unexplained gains may not only happen but are expected.

Congrats on doing so well!  I'm so happy for you!

Congratulations!  I'm so happy to hear things are going well.  It's great you can get all your fluids in...I had problems with that for my first three months.  And walking will help you feel better, loss weight, and improve your muscles for me strenuous workouts as time passes.
