The endoscopy went well!  Thank you everyone for your thoughts and positive energy.  Something did bother me right before I went under for the endoscopy.  The doctor said that he hated to do this procedure for me because using the balloon would stretch things out and then I would start gaining weight.  He said I needed to get used to the feeling of things being stuck, as it was part of the effects of surgery.  He also said to give it a few more months and I would be fine without the procedure!  WTH?!?!?!?!  Has anyone else encountered this?  Heard this?  So now, I am freaked out!  I mean I’ve been struggling with feelings like I’m going to mess something up and now he’s telling me this right before they put me under to scope and balloon me.  So am I really hurting myself in the long run with these?  I thought this was a side effect from surgery that could happen, but that it NEEDED to be taken care of so you could actually get food and stuff down.  Please tell me that this guy does not know his a** from a whole in the ground!!!!!

Oh, and they had to do both endoscopies because food was getting stuck and I would suffer for hours with pain and pressure until either it went down or it would come back up.  Also, when I drink liquids it woudl feel like liquids going down a drain, you know that swirl motion.  Oh, and I get full after just one bite of food...regardless of what it was.  So I would push myself to eat a little more because I KNEW I could not be full after one small bite.  So after all of this started again, the surgeon ordered another endoscopy.  Just to give a back ground of what is going on.

The getting stuck feeling is a side effect of surgery. As much as it hurts (usually) it's a good reminder to either not eat so much or eat so fast. From what I've seen when people complain of something getting stuck they've either eaten the wrong things or ate too much of it. It's your pouches "friendly reminder" to not do it again! Remember, your pouch is the size of a golf ball right after surgery. Things WILL most likely get stuck at some point. I don't think doctors usually check things out unless you are vomiting every day and can't keep anything down, even slider foods.

If it feels tight and you have pain ...stop eating! Even if it is just one bite! I still get that feeling on rare occasions and I'm 12 months out. But remember all of our pouches are different. So try not to compare yourself to others (not saying you do) just saying that just because someone who has had surgery the same time as you can eat something, doesn't mean you can ...and visa versa.

Good luck and I hope things get better for ya!

Breathe.... in... out... in... yeah, you get the idea.

One, two or even three endoscopies are not going to undo the effects of your surgery. Even the balloon dilation may give you a little stretch but if you continue eating small amounts, even though the anastomosis (hole) will be stretched a little to allow passage of food, the pouch is probably fine. Just keep eating your recommended amount, take tiny (baby spoon) bites, chew the hell out of it and count to 50 in between bites.

The food is not getting stuck even though that's the sensation. If it was truly stuck, you'd be puking. The sensation of stuck is what you feel when the pouch is irritated or stretched. I'm seven months out and the main reason I feel this pain is eating too fast or taking too big a bite. Also no liquids while eating. Hope you are remembering that.

I would go back on liquids for at least a week and then VERY SLOWLY progress back through pureed foods. Don't start solids back for a while, maybe three weeks or so and let your pouch calm down and heal again.

Don't forget to breathe. Stress also makes my pouch hurt more than anything else.
