I am so glad I found this web site. I am a few months from my surgery yet but I feel this site has answered so many of my questions just by lurking. I read your stories and I feel like I can finally relate to people who understand.

Welcome.  I too found the whole site incredibly helpful pre-operatively.  I felt like I had a much better handle on the complications, reality of life after surgery and what were realistic expectations.   Now, I find this forum very helpful day-to-day as a reminder of where I've been and where I will end up.

WLS for Dummies is also a good resource, as are some of the surgeon websites.

Surgery was so worth it!

Welcome. I think this is the most supportive board on OH! Stop lurking and jump right in. Everyone is very helpful.

There are a lot of things that the doctors don't really tell us; I think because they just don't know.  Like, for instance, how tired we are post op and how hard it is to get our preop strength back.  I also had a problem with getting all my fluids in and I came to the boards and found out that it was normal to be tired and it was normal to struggle with the fluids and protein.  You are at the right place.  Stay where you are comfortable and ask anything, one of us will have an answer.

I have definitely noticed what you are saying about Dr's not telling you everything. That's part of the reason I am glad I found this board. Also just the acceptance and understanding. When others around you don't understand why you are doing what you are doing it's good to have a "safe place".
