Searching for New Mantras

Recently when I was faced with a difficult food choice I would say to myself  "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels" and it has helped .
However, it's getting old and I'd like to know if you have any good mantras you'd like to share with this struggling pre-op.

I love mantras... one I like is "a minute on the lips, a month on the hips"

Also...

"I'm not really hungry... I must be (fill in the blank)" ... thirsty, angry, bored, etc.

But I also found this cool thing online. It may not be quick mantras but it's good to read over and remember. It helps me. The ones in red are the ones I like the best.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Mantra #1- Fat is not Funny. When you reach for that extra piece of bread or "just two" cookies, remind yourself that you find no humor in being overweight.
Mantra #2- Food is my Friend, Fat is Not. Like any friend, food can wear out its welcome. In measured quantities it is enjoyable, but overdo it and it becomes dangerous.
Mantra #3- If it is Sweet, It is Sugar. You don't have to read labels to find the sugar in a lot of snacks. Remind yourself that if the reason you like it is because it is sweet there is probably sugar in it somewhere.
Mantra #4- My Family, My Friends, My Food. This is to remind you that food should not be used as a comfort. Family and friends should always come first and food is simply a necessary distraction.
Mantra #5- Live, Love, Lose Weight. Just like #4, this one is a reminder. While losing weight is important, don't forget to live life and spend time with those you love.
Mantra #6- I am a loser. Turn a negative into a positive with this one. In most cases being called a loser is bad, but when dieting we all want to be losers.
Mantra #7- I think I can, I think I can... It worked for the Little Engine and it will work for you. Just remind yourself that it can be done and keep chugging along.
Mantra #8- One pound at a time. The great pyramids were built one block at a time, a long journey is accomplished one step at a time, and your weight loss will occur one pound at a time. Total success will be measured at the end.
Mantra #9- Food does not control me. When those cravings strike remind yourself that food is an inanimate object that does not control you. You control when and how you put food into your body.
Mantra #10- I can do this! Deep down you know that you can. It is important to fight the urges to give up or slip from the path. When that urge creeps into your brain, just shout it out with a hearty "I can do this!"
Does your surgeon require a certain amount of weight loss before surgery or are you trying to shrink your liver? Because otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. It will be MUCH easier to lose weight afterwards--much faster, too!
Yeah I do have to lose a certain amount of weight 20-25 lbs actually, so I'm really close. I meet with the surgeon today and I wish that I was down, but hopefully he'll cut me some slack!!
I know you're pre-op, but you are losing weight; therefore you should already see some changes in your body.  For me...yes, I'm six months post-op...I love to focus on changes I see now.  For instance my favorite is walking around...I can swish my ass as I walk and not feel like Jabba the Hut...hehehe...AND my elbows don't touch my hips...WOOHOO!!   So anytime I feel like I have to refocus...I get up and walk around..swishing and swinging  ....LOL.
Hi Danni!!
I agree with Brid.. Even post op I was measuring.. That will make a huge difference in how you see things.. I also keept a notebook with me where I journaled my journey. My weight how much I lost each week and inches every month. I kept that in back pocket prior to surgery. Every time something would tempt me, cookie, candy, cake, I would pull out my notebook and look at where I started and where I was now. Then I would tell myself "Self.. Do you want the next page to show a step backwards??" Then I would physically take a step backwards from the offending food item...
Really silly I know, But I am doer.. I have to take physical action. My mind plays to many tricks on me. It can't be trusted!!
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
