First fill.

Well, I had my first fill today.  Everything went fine.  The PA found a collection of fluid around my port that she sucked out, only 10 cc's came out and she said not to be concerned she has pulled as much as 150 cc's out of people before.  I have a 14 cc band (because I am a guy) and there was 1 cc already in it, so she added an additional 3 cc's.  She said I probably won't be in the "green zone" with this fill, but I am hoping for a little more restriction than before.  I get my next fill on June 10th where I can get an additional 3 cc's.  I am trying to exercise and really diet, so I don't get discouraged before I am feeling restriction.  I really understand what they mean by not losing weight as fast as RNY surgery.  I am very happy with my decision and looking forward to the results!

Wow, your first fill came soon.  My research suggests that it usually doesn't happem until the patient is over a month out.

I'm glad everything went fine and good luck!

I am happy I was filled now.  I was feeling next to nothing as far as restriction.  I didn't ask to be filled 3 weeks after surgery, that's when they scheduled me...it went well though...

Ah, I really hope I can get a fill 3 weeks out! I'm scared of not feeling restriction, but it is what it is and I (we) will truck through it!

Best of Luck with your Journey!

congrats on getting an early fill!   I am not sure what your pa is talking about with fluid around the port as I never had that.  Enjoy your band!

Fluid around port? Hmmmmm I never had that of heard of it either.
My band did not work efficiently. I had big restriction sometimes and none must of the time.
Having it removed and the RNY done on June 2nd.

Good luck with it!

I had my first fill 1 month out. I have a 10cc band (still a guy ) and they moved me up to 2cc's on my first fill. I keep going between 4.5 and 5 here the past 6 months. At 5 I can only get down mushy or soups, at 4.5 I can get down solid food, but I do get stuck quite a bit. Some days I feel like I am eating too much, some days I feel like I can't hold anything down. Today for lunch I had a small chicken chimichanga and a bit of chicken soup. This is a big meal for me. Last night it was about a cup of rice and a half cup of soup.

What get's me is that even when I have problems with soup, ice cream still goes down without any issue. It's like my band will only let evil pass.

It's a year and 2 months...

I shot down quite a bit in the first four months (380 down to about 305). I have hovered around 305 since then, going as low as 297 and going back up to 313. When I was training for the MS150 bike ride this year even the increased activity didn't really drop much weight off of me. My doctor told me to shoot for 290 and that I would be at my prime weight for my height and build at 280, but that he wouldn't expect me to get much less than that.

I go from days to where I feel too thin to days where I feel like I wish I could lose more. I have always been big framed, and I like the way big framed guys look, so I have no issues with how my weight looks now (usually). I don't have to work at this point to keep around the weight that I am so I am just riding with it.

I totally miss-read that, I thought it said your surgery was March of this year.  HAHA  I was begining to wonder what's wrong with me.  I am 3 weeks post op today.  I started at 300 and this morning I am 281.  I am hoping to get down to 200, or to whatever I feel comfortable with.  As of right now, with 4cc's in my 14cc band, I am not feeling much restriction at all...makes me think if this is going to work or not...
