LOTD (Laugh of the Day)

Hi Friends,

Here's something for you that made me laugh.

Today was my psych evaluation. After two hours of interview came a sit-down, sort of psych SAT. I handed the answer sheet in and awaited the results. When the psychologist called me in she said I had done well and she would strongly recommend me for surgery. (NICE!)

One issue though. She said I had scored quite high on "having a poor body image." ...Ya think!?

I shared this at my OA group tonight and they fell apart.

Jim

PS / Any there OA'ers out there? I found that the group was incredibly openly hostile to WLS. Really took me to task. Two guys actually followed me to my car to tell me what a mistake I was making and that I was a fool to believe in miracle cures. That the WLS establishment is just trying to make money off us. Kinda shook me up. Maybe next week I'll come out to them...wrapped in my rainbow flag. Ultra conservative swamp yankees. They are a joy. Where's my feather boa?

LOL I was told I had more male trates than female. I am such a tomboy and I shudder at the thought of having a girly girl. I was also told I have an addictive personality. Who did you eval?

I used to go to OA 30ish years ago. I know I was really young and I think it was before I was 8.

The eval was done by Kim Daniels. She's a doll -- and even she had to laugh!

I only met her once at a support group that is about the nut and psyc eval. I went to Cynthia Worth. She was amazing. That reminds me. I need to try to get ahold of her to see if she can give me somce names up here in Enfield for therapy. Gotta wrap my tiny brain around a tiny body instead of the big one.

Thank God we have free will to make our own choices.  I can't stand people who try to tell everyone how to live their lives.

As for the flag and boa...wave them loud and proud honey!!  That should shut 'em up...lol.

That is funny.

I go to other 12 step programs and found OA to be just like you said. There is a lot of hostility towards WLS so I feel comfortable to talk about my food addiction in my other programs and my support groups are very accepting.

Congrats on getting cleared!

I did an assisted weight loss program at my hospital before doing the surgery.  I did great - lost 70 pounds before going onto the table.  When one of the women in the group found out I was having the surgery, she went ballistic - was totally unexpected.  She was totally mild mannered about everything else, and seemed only mildly committed to her own weight loss - it was weird when she got so invested in whether or not I was making the right decision for myself.
