Hi everyone! Oh, My! I can’t believe my surgery is tomorrow morning. Time passes by so fast! I have to be at the hospital at 6:30am. I am super freaking out! I suppose it’s the day before jitters?   How was everyone’s experience with the IV? Did it hurt, not hurt? I’m petrified of needles, I am not nervous and afraid of the IV needle than I am of the surgery. Sad, ain’t it? I am taking some confy clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, chapstick, sandals, ipod (so I don’t get bored to tears), and cologne (in case I see a hot doctor somewhere). Am I missing anything I should take?

Don't worry, the IV was not painfu at all and once it is in, there is no pain at all.  What hospital are you going to be in? I see you are also in South Florida. One thing I woulds suggest you bring is your own pillow as it made my stay a lot more pleasant.
Good luck Jorge! I am so excited for you.

About the IV:

Don't be scared of the needle.  A pinch hurts a lot worse.  Plus the needle is very small and is only in you for a few seconds and then an very soft and flexible catheter is left inside the vein and the needle is disposed of.

Some words of advice, breathe and relax, don'****ch, and if you jerk your arm you will need to be poked again.  After the initial poke from the needle you won't feel anything.

About your surgery:

Best of luck and a speedy recovery!  I'm planning on bringing my laptop, cell phone and chargers.  I'm going to downloading some TV shows that I haven'****ched as well as some movies to keep me occupied.

And everyone says to bring chapstick but you already have that covered.

Good Luck!! I am 4 days post op and I am amazed at how smoothly everything has gone.
The nurse can give you a little numbing medicine for the IV....but honestly the momentary sting of the numbing med is the same as the IV.

You will do great....also you may want to take it easy on the cologne as I found my sense of smell after the surgery was really sharp and when i walked in the halls the smell of colgne made me kinda sick.

Congrats on your surgery!!

The IV,, was nothing. mosquito bite.. Right after surgery though they took blood directly from the artery in my wrist that did hurt a little but that IV,, was nothing.Leave the cologne at home they probably will not let you ware it.

There's nothing to fear from a little *****  Hell, once it's inside of you, you may actually begin to feel pretty good.

Oh, and you shouldn't worry about the IV either.
