6 month checkup results: A+
Just wanted to share that I had my 6 month followup with my surgeon. Everything's fine, all my vitamin levels are good, and the doctor said that I'm 60% of the way to my weight loss goal - which he says is the mark he wants patients to hit 1 year out from surgery. So I'm 6 months ahead of schedule! Woot!
Now at 361 (goal is 250) I just realized that in 11 pounds I'll finally be able to use any old scale, anywhere. Soon I'll be able to invest in having a bathroom scale...
...wow.
I'm now wearing the same size clothes I did in college.
I likely weigh less now than I did my senior year in high-school, when I first passed the 350 mark and lost track of my weight.
...wow.
What a trip.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are doing AWESOME!
You are able to buy a scale now to weigh on. I have an electric (battery operated) one that goes up to 400 pounds. I got it at Kohls I believe. And it is almost exact with the Dr's scale. If you want, i will look to see the brand of mine......just wanted to put that out there. I wasn't sure if you were waiting for a reason, or just did'nt know that they made them for peeps like us, and they aren't that expensive. :)
Congrats Don,
You are doing a great job and I think you are awesome!! I always read your posts....and recently with the head hunger thing....just thinking about all the agony we put ourselves through worrying about things....clearly your head hunger and food servings are not a problem since you ares so far ahead of schedule. I do this to myself all the time too. Im convinced I have stretched out my pouch.....but then reality sets in when i try to take a normal bite of food....haha. Do you think all of this extra worry will help us keep the weight off in the future? I hope so....I know that that is going to be the really hard part of this journey....dont you think?
Michelle
PS....are you exercising alot?

Heya Michelle -
I totally see the paranoia about serving sizes as a blessing. Sure, it makes me stress out about once a week ("I've ruined my band! I'll be fat forever! Waah!"), but it also helps me keep my portions in check when I eat out - which is about 50% of the time (I'm still not an amazing cook).
You're right, though. The body will attend to itself...the head needs a heck of a lot more active work.
As for the excercise, I do my best. i'm hitting the gym on average of 3 times a week, sometimes 4. I do 35 minutes of elliptical, 10 minutes of the hand bike and then an hour of anaerobic weight lifting. I was told anaerobic's what I need right now by trainer in order to build the muscle mass I want to lift my sagging bits. So far it seems ok. I've got sagging balloon syndrome, but it could be worse, I think. I'm holding it together!
