I think I dumped?!
I had found Alton Brown's from the Food Network's recipe for overnight cinnamon rolls and made it. Damn, they were perfect and so good. I took the smallest one and had to eat it over 1 1/2 hour time frame. I was determined to celebrate with my sweets.
Well, after the initial sensation of almost sliming I thought I was OK. Within an hour I just felt bad. I have actually been lightheaded. Are those symptoms of dumping? I suspect the almost 40g of sugar did me in.
Lesson learned... Well, ask my partner Brett and he will tell you that I don't learn very well. I guess I am not used to eating extremely sweet things anymore. Even though I continue to feel full, I decided to eat my Healthy Choice entree for lunch. I am hoping that it counteracts the sugar with the protein and fiber.
I will remember this during my weekend in the big city.

PS: At work we always send out an email announcing the treats for the day. I know people were expecting healthy eats from me. I thought I would give them a chuckle. Here is the treat from my email to my coworkers...
Well, tomorrow is my birthday and I will be in NYC. So, I baked cinnamon rolls as my goody today. My personal goal was to be overweight on my birthday. I almost made it. About 70 pounds down in 9 months isn't that bad. This morning I am still 1.5 pounds away and lingering in obese. So, I figured what the heck. Have a "Tom's still frigging obese but close to being overweight" birthday treat on me.

Yeah that sounds like dumping to me... I had that issue with a very rich protien shake.
ok you had your sweet treat... get back on the horse before someone has to put you over their knee
I'll wish you a happy birthday tomorrow... some cultures (Germans) believe it's bad luck to wi**** early.

and have fun in NYC!!!! As your driving home on Sunday I'll be on my way to Pittsburgh again...
Happy Birthday, Tom!!!!! Have a blast in NYC! I just went up for the day several weeks ago with some MD losers and we had SUCH a good time!!
40 g of sugar would've put THIS RNY girl flat out on the floor....no, make that the toilet!!! For me, dumping consists of shakiness, sweats, rapid heartbeat, irritability (which makes it hard for those around me to differentiate! ), and on rare occasions, nausea, diarrhea, etc. Not a whole lot of fun for me or people around me!! lol
Have a wonderful birthday and a year full of much happiness!!!

Yeah, my dumping is unpredictable. I can get away with some sugar, like 1/2 a cookie or two bites of cake but then out of nowhere, I'll have just a little bit of something and feel bloated, nausea, and crampy. Eating anything, even healthy, on top of that makes me wish I could puke but can't and I hate that! But I continue to pu**** a little here and there, still weighing every day to stay at goal.
I love the note! Such a great sense of humor. I'd love to be your coworker. Wouldn't eat the cinnamon rolls but I'd sure be smelling them!
Have a great time in the city and congratulations again on your success (learning)!!!

Monday I had a protein drink from Odowalla...I was so excited it had 18 grams of protein per serving and the container had two servings. Unfortunately I didn't look at the sugar grams...let's just say I think it would give a bag of M&Ms a run for it's money. I drank half the container before the symptoms started and was down for at least 30 minutes hoping death would come soon. I managed to fall asleep for a couple of minutes and felt 100% better.
Moral of the story...read the whole label!!
Anyway, have a great time in NYC...if you love history as much as I do check out Ellis Island, it's fascinating.

You might have dumped but you might not have. Here's my thinking.
I'm assuming you have pretty much cut the sugar out of your diet since your surgery and the cinnamon rolls were probably your first experience with something high in sugar content.
Our bodies are very funny in that regard. I was a vegetarian for almost 2 years. At first when I would eat soy anything my stomach would complain, I would get boloated and usually end up having some sort of unacceptable bathroom experience. But over time that stopped and I could eat soy and drink soy milk and the like.
About 8 months into being a vegetarian i decided to go to a steak house with my Aunt. Well, the experience that followed was a nightmare. I wanted to have my entire lower GI track removed from the painful cramping, bloating and well you get the picture. I thought I was going to die.
Our bodies have a way of getting used to not eating something. You might have dumped or your body might have just had a whoa wait a minute moment and didn't know what to do with all that sugar.
