6 days Post Op
Hey everyone,
I got home from the hospital on Thursday but did not feel like being on the computer much the last few days as I had my mom here and was kind of busy plus I have been napping a lot which I never do but I guess I need it.
I have to say that this was nothing like I expected. It went so smooth and was basically pain free. I was expecting to be so miserable and i really wasn't. There was very little actual pain, maybe a little discomfort but the drugs helped
I ended up having the RNY, getting my gallbladder removed and they also found a hernia in my belly button that they repaired so I got 3 for 1. Am I a good shopper or what?
All the rooms are private at the hospital I was at which was nice. My ex stayed with me the first night and I was glad he was there as it was comforting.
I was up and walking the next day and once I passed the leak test I was drinking 1 oz of water every hour.
I was never to uncomfortable, my biggest complaint was that I didnt sleep much the whole time I was in the hospital.
I got home on Thursday and slept like 13 hours.
I have been going for walks everyday and actually went to the mall yesterday for a little while to get some protein pudding at The Vitamin Shoppe.
I am having a hard time getting in my protein as the shakes taste really gross and I cant eat enough pudding for now but I am doing my best.
I am finding it easier to eat crystal light popsicles than to drink much but its getting easier.
For anyone who is anticipating surgery and stressing out about it, I assure you it was nothing like I expected. I had mine done at Cleveland Clinic Florida and they treated me very well.
Best news of all, I had lost 22 lbs in the 2 weeks I was on the liquid diet before surgery, I was amazed.
Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes and the kind thoughts.
Have a great Sunday.
Kevin

Glad you are back on! Very cool that all went so smoothly! Try some other proteins. I found it frustrating right after surgery because I really did not like them but finally found one I like (EAS Myoplex Lite) and actually look forward to it with coffee now. Now, the one protein drink a day, first helps with protein total for the day, but also serves as a reminder of where I've been. I have it in the car on the way to work, which is often a contemplative time in my day.
Hooray for you, Kevin. So glad to hear that everything went off without a hitch. Perhaps, maybe Catholic prayers do work on the Jewish... Hehehe...
Just take it easy now and don't push yourself. Relax, heal, then slowly get back into your routine. I know there will be times when you just want to run out there and see the world with your new eyes, but you have all of your life to do that. And I'm warning you, the next few days... Weeks... Months... Years will be some of the most exciting of your life. Everyday will be a new adventure. Enjoy and savor this time.
Welcome to the other side.
I'll drink a cold one for you (as you try to down another one of those nasty, chalky, vomitous protein shakes.)
Cheers!
Chris
