3 for Thursday
While I have a little bit of time home from the hospital, I decided to start a three for... I would like to participate in these more, but by the time one is posted, it's usually the next day here and I feel a bit late for the party. So, here's one for Thursday while it's still just the afternoon here-
1) I think the monsoon might be breaking. After two or so weeks of everyday downpours, it hasn't rained for nearly 48 hours! Yay. We need the sun back.
2) My dad seems to be responding well to the antibiotics in hospital. He should be out in a day or two.
3) I'm healthier than ever and hopefully will not have to be admitted to a Filipino hospital any time soon. The hospitals here are a trip. You have to pay between a 10,000 and 20,000 pesos (USD 200-500) before they admit you (and, yes, they can deny you). Then, they keep very few drugs in stock, so they write prescriptions for EVERYTHING (even the intravenous antibiotic) that we have to pay for and pick up. And the meals, unless you've lived in the Philippines all of your life, REALLY suck. For breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's fish and rice. One time, all my dad got was a scoop of rice and a big-ass fish head (the head ONLY) staring up at him. He skipped lunch that time. Then, at they end, they won't release you until the bill is paid up. If you can't pay the entire tab, they hold you hostage until you can. Wow. That would never work in the US. Thank God my dad has Tri-Care.
I'll keep checking up on y'all. Thanks for your thoughts and wishes about my dad.
Happy Thursday,
Cheers,
Chris

Hey, Shirley,
Thanks for the good words. My dad seems to be pulling through just fine.
Yeah, the hospitals here take some getting used to. They're just as good as the ones in the states, though the equipment is a little dated. You couldn't ask for friendlier staff, though. The nurses still wear the old short-skirt nursie uniforms (to my dad's and brother's delight) and all seem to be under the age of 21. You don't have many older nurses here because they train here then move to the states or the middle east where there's better pay. But they are the friendliest people in the world.
I'm glad you took my advice about the avatar. You look HOT in it!
Cheers,
Chris

I am grateful . . .
1) to find out that I am still socially uncomfortable in party situations. I went to a GLBT work party and still felt out of place. But, I wasn't sweating, feeling like I had to eat everything or convinced that everyone was grossed out by me. I must be just awkward, but you know I am ok with that!
2) that a snack bag of salt/vinegar chips filled me up and I could not eat anything much at the party.
3) that I may be able to get off the CPAP - pressures are down to the minimum recordable. I am going to try sleeping without it tonight.
