My name is Wayne I am 43 and 5 weeks out form getting my Lapband.

I live in Cincinnati, OH with my partner of 21 years and our three teen age sons, three dogs and a cat. I started gaining weight in 1992 after we moved to NYC for my partners work. I took a job that required a lot of travel and more lunch and dinner meetings. It didn't take long to start gaining weight and I just could never seem to take it off and keep it off. I could lose some on this or that diet but always put it back on plus more.

My last job was for Disney in Kissimmee, Fl (we relcated to Cincinnati in the fall of 2006). I sat behind a computer the entire day getting bigger and bigger. The last straw was when I hit 329 I just could not get around with out stopping and resting. My blood pressure was out of control and my sugar levels were starting to show sings of danger. In August of 2008 I started searching for something that would work and decided on the LapBand.

I have lost almost 60 pounds and have 99 to go. I already feel so much better and have more energy then I have in a couple of years.

Everyone have a great Week.

Wayne

Wayne!  Welcome!  Always nice to meet someone who's escaped the Disney hell trap...or as we call it out here in California, Mauschwitz.

Keep coming back to these forums... The folks who post on this board are really kind, and generally give a crap about each other.  Most everyone on here's helped talk me off the roof on at least one occasion....

HI and welcome! I see you have Dr. Curry. From what I have seen on the Ohio board, he seems good. I go to the Ohio board once in a while so I just get some insites on the Ohio doctors. Ask me about the docs in CT and I can tell you what you need to know. LOL I am from Dayton originally and miss it horribly. I was one of the stupid people that moved for love. LOL

I cant say enough about Dr. Curry and his staff they are all wonderful. He was just Banded a few weeks ago himself.  I feel very fortunate that I found him and the people in his office to help me on this journey.

We are both from Cincinnati, but to be honest we hate it here. We miss the weather in Florida and I miss my job at Disney. We moved back to assist my 86 year old grandmother so she is able to remain in her home of 62 years.

We plan on moving out west down the road to place where it will not snow. I am glad my boys learned to drive in snow but for me it has no use. I really dislike the cold and snow. One positive thing my mother has agreed to move with us when we go so I will not have to visit for Christmas.

I have only lived in Ohio, Idaho, and  Connecticut. Of the three Ohio was the warmest and least snowiest. I hate the snow and cold too. Even more since surgery.

Your the fourth person I have heard say the cold bothers them since WLS surgery. One friend of ours lives in Pewaukee, WI and loved being outdoors in the snow. She said now it kills her when its cold.

Some one on the CT board told me that it was because we don't eat enough. Our bodies have two choices, keep warm or keep going. It chooses keep going. Me personally wouldn't mind a little less going for a little more warmth. You might be different since you are banded, not sure.
