'Ello, I am a pre-op working on losing my 10% so they've put me on a meal plan- but I'm always so ravenously hungry. I know this is something that will lessen after surgery, but any advice for how to deal with it prior?

EAT VEGGIES!!!! They help fill you up and don't add many calories. I was able to eat all the veggies I could pre-op. Also drink water. It helps curb the hunger.

Drink lots of water.  If you don't like to drink water then add no-sugar flavoring to it.  Beyond the fact tha****er is good for you...it will fill you and keep your skin looking great at the same time!

Thanks- those are two great suggestions. As far as veggies what do you eat that quick and easy? I'm always on the go and am getting tired of sugar snap peas ans celery.

Carrots are tasty and high in fiber - they fill you up nicely, though theyre higher in calories than other vegetables.

I agree with the water suggestion! I am in the process of my 6 mo diet/weight loss plan required by insurance. I did nothing different this month except cut out the soda and drink lots of water and I lost 4 pounds. Not alot I know, but its a start..

Just drink lots of water instead of soda.  Sometimes I would add crystal light or tea packets to a bottle of water...

Hi there....what has worked for me is eating a big spinach salad for lunch....I add cheese...unsalted sunflower seeds...(sometimes chicken or tofu) ...I am careful with the amount of dressing i use cause the calories can sneak up on you there. Sometimes I make a wrap of the above ingredents in a low carb wrap with a spoonful of tazaki. (greek yogurt and cucumber sauce)
Super yummy and super filling. I have been doing that a litle over a month and have lost 21lbs pre op.

I have a protein shake for breakfast while I am driving to work (Slim Fast) ...another thing that has worked for me is eating very close to the same time every day....and adding a high protein snack if I get hungry between meals. (jerky...5-6 almonds...low sugar protein bar)

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much, those are wonderful suggestions. Kaiser has a really good meal plan set up, but its 1200 cal and basically a larger portioned post-op. I'm so glad you mentioned tazaki, I love that stuff!!

Hey Dannie.. Jicama is a great chomp on snack.. And radishes make me feel like I am eating snacky foods. But remember that DENSE protein will keep you fuller longer. Chicken breast, chicken breast.. Oh yeah and chicken breast. Try and stay away from carbs, they process fast and you will be hungry before you know it.

Good luck!
