Advice 4A Newbie?

I've been a message board peeping Tom for a few weeks and am ready to jump in.

Dumb bunny question du jour ... I want to post a photo but when I go to upload it keeps telling me the file is too big. I keep cropping it down, and I'm down to one eye and part of my nose ... still too big (the pic, not my nose). Any ideas? I feel it's only fair to share my smiling face with the crew here. ("Is that your head Charlie Brown or is the moon out early today?")

Where am I? I'm part of the way thru the "bring me the witch's broomstick phase" with my surgeon. (Go here, test this, test that, measure this, turn your head an cough, on and on...)

I was hoping for surgery this summer but hit 2 major snags ...

1) Evidently my heart shows signs of damage indicating that I have already had a "silent" heart attack. Next Wed 4/29 I go in for an angiogram to survey the wreckage. Placing a stent or baloon angioplasty - likely. Needing a coronary bypass? Doc says it is a possibility. I'm sort of freaking out. Anyone have this happen (bypass before the bypass)???

2) The hospital group my surgeon is affiliated with is pulling the plug on my insurance carrier (Anthem BCBS). This means either no surgery, or going and starting with a totally new surgeon. Oy. Any similar situations? Advice??

Thanks so much everyone!

Jim

They were just talking about the whole BCBS thing on the CT board. You might want to check it out to see what was said.

There is a site that you can redo your pics so they are smaller. I don't have it since my 'puter died. Someone else here can chime in I am sure.

Good luck with everything. Hope you get to stay with Dr. A. He's the best.

In regards to your snag #1... Do not freak out.  Without knowing how it was diagnosed I'm not going to make any assumptions beyond it could possibly be nothing at all.  You'll go to the hospital, have them look at your heart and they will go from there.  Coronary bypass surgery really is worst case scenario.  I'm sure the person consulting with you in regard to your results was just making sure you were well informed about all the possibilities.

Good luck!

Welcome.  Your witty post made me smile.  I kinda like your current avatar but it seems to have two eyes and a nose . . . not you?

As for your heart, better to pick it up now instead of waiting for more significant damage.  I think for a lot of us the pre-surgey "health check" forced us to deal with the complications of our obesity  (smoldering concerns) much more intently than we would have done without being "forced".

Jim,
Yeah, I think the photos (I think you are talking about your avatar) have be be 20k or less. I would try something like www.picnik.com and save  the photo at a low resolution like 72 pixels/inch. I hope that works for you.

I had a somewhat silent heart attack 3 years ago that did no damage but lead to my triple bypass. Keep in mind that you want your heart to be working good before any surgery. A friend who was in the lapband approval process had a slight heart attack and a stint placed after. His heart surgeon told him that he has to wait at least 6 months before any other surgery including lapband. That's his experience. We'll see where your appointment leads you. I wish you luck bud. My heart was my main motivation for losing the weight.

Good luck with your surgeon search.
Tom
