Question about blood

okay....tonight I got sick for the first time since the hospital.  I had fish, chewed it up A LOT, and ate SLOWLY.  I got another one of my pain episodes.  I couldn't sit down at all.....after this went on for about 45 minutes I tried to drink a little milk to "wash" the food down.  Well, this time everything decided to reappear.  The thing that has me a little concerned....there was some blood in the end...not like that's all that comes out, but about a quarter size spot.  Now, I got sick once in the hospital and didn't have any blood at all....however, I also didn't have food in my system....  S thinks I just agrevated something and said things would be fine.  I think that is a possibility, but has anyone else experienced this?

As far as the pain.  i did talk to my nurse about this....she said that it could be the start of a small stricture, but then it could be nothing and to jus****ch it.  I thought I might let her know this happened, but I haven't had many issues until tonight.  I'm trying to get down some liquid now, and the pressure is still there a little and still feel like i could be sick.

Thoughts?  A slap to reality because I'm worried for nothing?  I can handle either way.

I would definitely call tomorrow.  The blood might be due to esophageal or gastric irritation but might also be due to an ulcer.  If you feel at all bad tonight, I might worry more.  I have not had any vomiting so I can't help from real experience.

Definitely talk to your surgeon about this. Blood is not normal.

Things getting stuck and hurting is not unusual especially if you are trying new foods. Trying to wa**** down is never a good idea unless you really want to throw up. It doesn't really wash down. Believe me I've tried that. LOL  When food does feel "stuck" the only thing to do is wait it out. I've used a heating pad or ho****er bottle as it helps the muscles relax a little.

I hope you feel better soon. Let us know how you are doing. But in the meantime, definately call your doctor and let them know!

I talked to my nurse this morning.....they are going to schedule me for an endoscopy.  She thinks I may have a stricture.  Darn scar tissue!  Things are going down this morning, but they just feel very weird....I think it is the sensitivity due to last night.....but we'll see what the tests show.  YAY...more sedation!  LOL

I was told blood can be normal if you are throwing up hard. It's just an irritation type thing. I have had it a few times when I was dehydrated. Just a tinge of it cause I was dry heaving so bad. BUT... that being said I have to agree, it's not normal.

As the self appointed stricture queen (2 by 6 months) I never had pain. But we all could be different.  Glad the have you down for a scopie. That should find some things.
