200lbs gone, and I walked 2kms yesterday!
I'm 8 months out from my DS, and I've lost 200lbs.
200 pounds that I will never see again.
Yesterday, my husband Shawn and I did groceries, came home and unloaded them, took down Christmas lights, put together a bbq and a patio set, cleaned house, etc which had me on my feet all day. Our friends popped by, and once I had the food started on the bbq, I went for a 2km walk with my friend.
2 kilometres. Two hundred pounds ago, I couldn't take 10 steps without being short of breath. I couldn't walk a block without chest pain, and breaking out in a sweat.
I'm in great health. I got my bloodwork back and my vit levels are good except for my D, but that's ok. I have something up with my thyroid which requires further testing, but everything else was good.
I don't use my cpap machine anymore, and haven't for a couple of months now.
I have a wii fit, and love it. I love doing the yoga, and so far I have been able to do every one of the poses.
It may sound like I'm bragging. It may seem that I'm pushing my DS in people's faces. The truth being told, I am sharing my experience.
Everytime someone gives false information about the DS, they steal these successes away from someone else in my situation. Every time someone on here, or at a meeting, or who works in the medical profession tells a lie about the DS, it makes me feel lucky to have been able to have the DS when I did.
I'm greatful for every day I have without pain, or sadness, or discomfort.
I wi**** for everyone.

Congratulations Angus,
Wonderful to hear how well you are doing, feeling and how much more energy you have. Isn't it amazing...I'm 4 months post-op and have lost over 75lbs and it's incredible just how much more energy I have and feel all around, including my knees.
Keep up the great work, I be you'll be running a mini marathon in no time.

Way to go, guy! Congrats on the success.
Taking down Christmas Lights? On Easter? You sure you're not from Alabama!
Chris
P.S.- Not to take anything away from your success, but what is all about this perceived rivalry between LBers, RNYers and DSers (and the other surgeries.) Aren't we all in the same boat?

Wow! great job. What a life changing experience you have had. I don't think you are bragging. You had a lot of weight to loose and picked the best method for you. Long as you can keep up the supplementation regime, the DS is a great choice. Each of us chooses what we think is the best fit surgery wise. It is nice that this board is supportive of everyone.

Congrats! Personally, I didn't think you were shoving your DS in our face. It just counds like you are celebrating your accomplishments like everyone else. This whole my surgery is better than yours is bull. Yes, the DS is better than the RNY for you. The RNY was better than the lap band for me. The lap band was better for Tom and Paul than the others. I don't understand why people have that mentality.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
