Schedules
I pretty much eat on a schedule. If I don't I get hungry. Might be head hunger but who knows. I have to eat about every 4 hours. Fun stuff when the hubby hates to eat on weekends. I tell him I need to eat and he's like you just ate a few hours ago.

Because after WLS, hunger and fullness are not real indicators of when one should eat, I eat on a strict schedule. For me, most of the time, food is fuel. If I run too close to "E", I don't do well and it's very easy for me to mistake head hunger for needing to eat. So 8 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and as soon as I can get home after work are my mealtimes. I don't eat between meals so that's it. I can vary it about 1/2 to 1 hour later but longer than that and I'm cranky. The hardest is dinner because right now I'm getting home late and feel like I'm starving and tend to eat too fast which hurts. But I'm working on getter better at it.

Loose schedule for me. I need to eat a little more often than some of the other folks on here - about once every three hours. I tend to do a Meal, snack three hours later, and then another meal 2 hours after that.
Head hunger is still a problem for me. It's hard to believe that some of the meals I eat are enough, so I get head hungry sooner than I'd like after a reasonable meal. Still working on that.

My life is so busy with work, the gym, ice skating, entertainments, and then trying to get the amount of water I'm supposed to drink that I have to eat on a strict schedule. During the week breakfast is between 6:20 and 6:30 so I can leave the house by 7 AM, lunch is 12:15 to 1:15, and then dinner is usually 6 PM. I can work in my 30/90 minute rule of no water before and after meals and still get enough water. On the weekend I might have breakfast an hour later, but the rest of the day is pretty set...I found too many times when I don't stick to this I end up skipping breakfast or eating lunch at 3 PM and then dinner at 8 PM. Knowing that I have to make myself eat at these times allows me to plan my day and get everything done I need or want to do.

Before surgery, I rarely ate during the day thus was starved when I got home. During my pre-op nutrition appointments, this behavior was identified as a major issue (in addition to excessive orange juice drinking). Because of this and the pouch, I am relatively routine about my eating now.
7-8 am protein drink with some coffee in the car on the way to work (drink over the hour)
10 to 11 ish yogurt size snack
12-1 ish Lunch
3-4 ish small snack
7-8 ish dinner
I have learned that I must have some dense protein (meat) during the day or I am hungry when I get home from work - a habit I don't want to restart.

I'm not on a too strict of a schedule however with wls, I'm never hungry. i have other indicators of "hunger" like headache or dizziness and sometimes nausea but that's usually when I have gone waaaaaaay too long without food. i try to keep it at 11 am for breakfast, 2 pm lunch and then 7 pm for dinner....I don't snack.....I drink between those times.
