Gaining and Freaking
Soooo on with my saga.
I was down to 215 two weeks ago. I normally fluctuate 2-3 pounds. I will drop one, go up three, slowly go back down four, go up three, slowly go back down four. This has been my pattern for the whole process for me. When I decided to play football, I had to add a protien shake or bar everyday for energy. I have actually probably been eating less than I was before, but about 200 calories more a day and 30-40 grams of protien a day more. But despite that this morning I weighed in at 220. There was 12 hours of travel in a car on top of the schedule below as well. So my smart head is telling me that I am bulking up and hydrating more. That I am building muscle and the scale is going to lie for awhile. BUT my FAT head is telling me that I should cut the supplements out because I am going to start gaining weight again! I guess I need some opinions on this? I pretty much just tried to get some protien in everytime I could eat. I was listening to my body this weekend and trying to just balance my energy out. I thought I did fairly well, but the scale is freaking me out. Any thoughts?
Example:
This is Saturdays Food.
(B) Protien Bar 30g
(s) half of a 45g protien shot during practice
(L)Chicken Salad
Protien shake 30g
(D) inside of Turkey sand and some apple slices
(S) Protien Bar 30g
Piece of Jerky
160oz of water
3 Hours Full Contact Football Practice
This is Sundays Food.
(B)half cup of scrambled eggs
1 slice of bacon
(S)One Protien bar
(L)one third of a grilled chicken breast (got nauseaus)
(an hour later )two thirds of the grilled chicken breast
(D)1/4 cup refried beans and cheese
64 oz water
2 hours of Cardio Football Practice
***I forgot to add I am at 3 months out.

I wonder.....after a 12 hour car ride do you ever get lower extremity edema? if so, that can seriously account for 5-7 pounds of extra weight.
I would not worry about this too much. Firstly, you are exercising alot and possibly adding bulk in terms of muscle.
Do your clothes fit different?
I think you are fine. I think you might need more water with all of that exercise to flush out some of the lactic acid, too.

My legs were totally swollen. I did not even think of that. You are right. I had a phone conference with the NUT today and she thinks my muscles are regaining from shrinking prior to this level of activity and probably holding water like crazy. I am really trying to push the water, but the more active I am the less I want in my pouch. It makes me a little nauseus too close to intense exercise. But I think you are probably right on both counts. Thanks for the heads up!

From my small amount of knowledge, I believe that it might take 4 to 6 weeks of your body to agree to the serious weight training involved with football. And I am not sure that the 30 gram protein bar is the way to go. I believe some of them play havic with the body and weight loss due to calories and things in them.
I think I know how you feel and just think you should hang in there and allow your body to get use to the high power routine!!!
You will reach your goal and be a buff woman to boot!

Band removed and feeling alive with energy!
No worries! It was the edema, and your muscles trying to store some glycogen. Check the sodium content of your road food. Bet it's higher than you are used to. You are doing great!
