Post WLS & tattoos - I have questions.
Post Date: 3/21/09 10:16 pm
I had WLS in June of 2006. I've lost a significant amount of weight & while I do not see me being able to get plastic surgery anytime in the forseeable or even non-forseeable (is that a word?) future - unless I win the lottery. I have ALWAYS wanted a tattoo - maybe two or three. What stops me is with the weight loss - the saggy skin...etc....is there anyplace on my body that the tattoo won't get stretched out or messed up if I do end up hitting that lottery? Any thoughts or ideas are welcome.

I have 4 all done pre-WLS; both tops of feet, side of right calf and left side of chest. I lost 105 pounds and mine are still okay looking. On another note, I feel for ya re: the plastic surgery costs. I am in the same boat with you. I can't wrap my mind around why the decision makers don't see that plastic surgery is simply part of after care for us. I was considered a "lite weight", but I still have skin issues. Heck, I'm 42 yrs. old and weighed 259 lbs. overweight since childhood. My skin won't shrink back anymore nor can I afford the luxury of plastic surgery.
I lost my insurance also so the chances of a new insurance company through a different employer will cover any plastic surgery. It looks like I will have to pay for it out of pocket. The only area I would really want done is my stomach. I had always wanted the back of my shoulder & the side of my leg - not quite ankle - not quite calf. The more I think about it - the more I think - why not enjoy my life & worry about it later if I ever get the money for the PS.
Thanks so much for the response :-) I really appreciate it.

I totally agree Sharyn - wonder about the pain associated with that though, but I guess pain should be the least of my worries huh?
what I meant to say up above was - **the chances an insurance company through any future prospective employer paying for plastic surgery is EXTREMELY low.** I think I'm having problems thinking & typing. LOL
