Transgender? Hormones?
Hello! I am wonderring if there are any other Transgender folks on the board who have had or are considering surgery. I am a Female-to-Male (FTM) Trans guy and am curious about a few things that may be specific to Trans folks.....or actually anyone doing hormone replacement.
Were you asked to go off of hormomes prior to surgery? Did you find that hormones effected your weightloss in a positive, or negative way?
I know that with testosterone you lose a bit of elasticity in the skin...but you also build muscle faster... so it could balence out. The downside is that it increases your
appetite.
Any thoughts?

Hi
I can't really answer about hormone replacement but I went on the pill after surgery because my PMDD was so bad and its really helped tremendously. I would think the dosage of hormones might need to be adjusted but I doubt they would make you stop hormones as there would probably be no reason to stop, just work out how well they are absorbed and the dosage.
Good Luck

Hi sweetie. I'm not sure if how the hormones are going to affect your surgery. Have you talked to your surgeon about your special cir****tances? I know I was on meds that I had to stop prior to surgery, but I doubt that hormones would be the same.
Please keep us posted on this.

I know I had to go off the pill since it can cause blood clots. Not sure about regular hormones like what you are on. I agree with Rachelle talk to your surgeon about it and see what they say. Good luck with all of it.

hi and welcome to the board.
i'm dating a transman, but he is normal weight. i had weight loss surgery back in september.
some of my trans friends had to stop taking T when they had top surgery, so it may be advisible for all surgeries. i don't know. have you or anyone you know gone through that yet?
the guy i'm dating says T does enhance his appetite, however he leaves more food on a plate than i ever would have! that said, he's a little randier after taking his shot, so there's more exercise.
