Hello all,

I just wanted to say hello.  I have been reading and lurking for quite some time now, so thought it was time to post.

I am going to have a VSG on 6th April, in Mexico, self pay, Dr Alvarez.

My partner is a school teacher and she can not get the time off to come with me, so she will hold the fort down while my best friend comes with me for support.

I have decided to just self pay and get this done, instead of waiting the 5 - 7 years that it takes through the health care system.

To say I am excited would be...Oh the understatment of the CENTURY!  lol

I am looking forward to saying hello to people I only see once a year at Pride, and them saying...Hey where the hell is the rest of you?  I am also looking forward to never being this big again in my life, and fortunate to have the VSG tool to help me keep off what I lose.  I want to buy clothes off the rack in regular stores, and NOT be winded by the time I run to second base on the ball field this summer.  I want to not have to get pissy at one of my pet peeves....that "one size fits all pantyhose....DOESN'T "

I am looking forward to this..........the closer it gets the more excited I get.

So someone hold me a spot on the losers bench....on the orange strip.....

Tis my fav colour!

Cheers....Jane

Welcome, Jane!  You're about to embark on a trip of utter awsomeness, though I promise you'll ***** and moan like the rest of us over all sorts of minor things you'd never have expected to bother you.  You're going to feel stronger, not just physically, and if you do all the mental work necessary you may be more impressed with the new you a year from now than you expect - the surgery isn't just an opportunity to change your body and life, but your entire outlook.

Please, take this one piece of advice:  Do the work, physically and mentally.  You're worth the effort!

Welcome to the boards, and good journey to you!

Hi and welcome to our little slice of OH.

I've been mostly lurking on the VSG board lately LOL. So far I love my VSG. It was a great decision for me.

I have been doing more posting on the VSG board, as that is the first place I saw when I got to the site.

I did not realize there was a "family" board until I saw the link on your signature Nean, so thank you.

I am looking forward to NOT buying the XXXL (which I refer to as extra extra extra LOVABLE) sizes and just buying clothes off the rack in the regular sized section of a store.

I want to wear a belt, on the outside of my clothes, purely for fashion reasons and not have to worry about it getting stuck or swallowed up by one of the folds in my tummy!

I have a confession......HELLO MY NAME IS JANE......AND I AM A SHOE *****!

I can not wait to add to my shoe closet.....in smaller width and size.  But don't tell my partner (Beth) because she does not have the shoe gene.  Genetic defect on her part I keep telling her.

Anyway.....I am off to the tanning bed.....going on vacation with 12 relatives on 22 March for 8 days, then home for a week, then off to Mexico for my VSG.

Thank goodness I don't have to do a pre-op diet.  LOL

Cheers...............................Jane

Welcome, still a transitioning lurker myself.

My partner and I have the same shoe gene discrepancy.   And now, I am finding that I might have the clothes gene too . . . now that I almost, sort of able to shop in the regular sizes.
