is there a big difference between Soy and Whey protein powders? I accidentally purchased the Soy Protein powder. It does have a different texture when I add it to my oatmeal and tastes different too.

any opinions out there?.

I don't know a lot about the difference but I use whey. I don't like the taste of soy unless it's spiced up as in soy burgers, etc. I also don't need the hormone precursor effect of soy. Too much estrogen in my system is a very bad thing for me so I stay away from soy and animal protein shot with any hormones.

I 2nd Raven's comment. I can really feel the hormonal difference when I use Soy Protein.

Good luck!

I use Whey but there is a simple reason for that. I actaully thought they were all butt flavored but bottom line is this. When we look at health and nutrition esp as DSers we look at the bioavalibility of foods. Which one has higher usable protein value which translates to better protein to keep us healthy. On this list Whey protein is much higher than soy.  Remember we also need to have the amino acids to make it a complete protein. I have since found a protein that I mix with coffee and has 23 grams of good whey protein. It makes a lattee cappochinoish deal that is great. I have 2 of these if my numbers are low. Good luck .
