Fellow Lapbanders - Fill Advice Please
This Friday I go in for my monthly surgeon appointment. Last month I opted not to have a fill. I think I have lost around 5-6 pounds this month. Slow, but I am kind of happy with it. I wanted to get some fellow bandsters opinions on if it’s time for me to get some fill Friday.
My restriction appears to be pretty good. I eat smaller portions. My typical food intake: after morning workout – smoothie made with yogurt, fruit and ff milk, breakfast - Quaker Oats oatmeal, a.m. snack – fruit, lunch - WW Smart Ones meal, p.m, snack – yogurt, dinner 4-6 oz. lean chicken or pork, ½ cup veggies, small salad, night snack – 12 Wheat thins and Laughing cow wedge – over 96 oz. of liquids.
I think the above may be too much. I eat this comfortably with not issues. If I try to eat larger quantity I will slime or feel real uncomfortable. The band is also keeping me from eating pasta and bread and that is cool. Anything dry also gets stuck.
So, is it working? Should I get a little more fill to give me a fuller feeling sooner? Is this really a bad habit thing that I need to break? I need some advice.
Thanks,
Tom

I think you have pretty good restriction now. If you are too full you can't eat meat or other proteins. If you think this amount of food is too much, cut out one of the snacks. Are you counting the protein occasionally so you know you have enough?
I've been both too full of saline and not enough, and the latter is better, even if it requires more work.

Thanks, Connie. I seethe same folks every month when I get a fill. We are kind of on the same fill schedule. Last month one of the other patients told me she got too much the month before and could not eat meat or many solids. I don't want to go that far. That's why I think I am teetering on the correct fill. -- Tom

I think that from reading your post you have good restriction. The one thing my dr would not like with your eating is the smoothie. Mine requires 75% of each meal to be a solid protein and the rest a low carb something.
I am a slow loser and am glad. I though am 56 and feel better with my skin losing slowly the fat...........(I can't afford plastics at my age and this damn economy)
I also am pretty social so I have ****tails here and there.
Good luck with your decision.
