So on another website I belong too ...I joined a group for RNY patients and I'm getting REALLY mad!!!

One lady in this group im in is THREE WEEKS OUT and eating everything. I copied and pasted what she said. The title of her post was "I will never eat fast food again"

Every thing i eat makes my stomach hurt and makes my back hurt and makes me throw up. I will never eat food again!

I know the tests suck, the waiting game sucks, but they put us through it for a reason. I have read so many times that JUST because an individuals insurance doesn't require certain things people just skip it. If the program offers it any way .......take it! This woman was not informed what so ever. No support groups. No classes. NOTHING.

If she keeps this eating pattern up she is going to fail.

Sorry if I upset anyone but I'm being realistic. You can't go into something so BIG and so life-changing without something! Our nutrionists, surgeons, and other clinic staff are like our manuals. Use them!

hmmmmm......sounds like another victim to the "surgery will cure me" syndrome without doing any preliminary research or anything.    so many people go into this blindly and fail because either they aren't told what to change or they are unwilling to change.  they don't realize that it is a TOOL....not a CURE.   yeah i would get equally upset and then send her all my information that my surgeon's office gave me LOL

Ok, I know I will get flaimed for this, but I feel sorry for her. IF she hasn't had the info given to most of us in our programs. On the other hand, if she knows what she is doing is wrong then I don't feel a bit sorry for her.

I feel so fortunate that I was "forced" to take seven months to learn how to do this postop lifestyle long before my surgery. Yes, I wanted the quick fix but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would have failed had I not had that time. We were given binders of information to learn and understand and then tested on it before we could be scheduled for our surgery.

What bothers me is that everything we need to know about this is available on the internet. Before I even stepped foot in a support group or had to go through what Kaiser ran me through, I had scoured all the information for myself. But then, that's just me.

Do I feel sorry for her? I'm a firm and unwavering believer in personal responsiblity, so on that side of the coin... NO... on the other hand she is on a board which shows that she is seeking understanding. I think if you tell her what is going on and she ignores it then she deserves what she gets. But if she can learn from you, who is skilled in this process, then maybe she can find her way.

And yes, I get angry too... both at the people who want the fix without the work but moreso at the surgeons who do this surgery for the $$ without giving a damn about their patients a year down the road, who aren't willing to create a platform and structure for their patient's success.

HAHAHA...she just told me if I didn't like her posts to ignore them and that I was being rude and immature. LOL! No ...I'm informed, paid attention, and learned everything I could. I was being nice but she is being ridiculous. I'm starting to wonder if she even had surgery or if this is some attempt to get attention.

I'd say watch her progress and that is the proof in the pudding (SF of course)! You are to be commended for your willingness to reach out to her. But we can't make people want to learn. *shrug*

I feel the same exact way... I can't imagine rearranging my insides to not change my "lifestyle"..

I haev had this conversation with a few people in person. So what I try to do now us educate, and support.. But some people just don't want to hear it..

We should just be grateful that WE have the tools and are doing everything in our power to be successful. And Brooke.. Be careful don't let this stress you out. That isn't good for you either. (I am unfortunately speaking frome expierence... I love to carry other people's baggage..)
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
