Great meal idea for Chili's Restaraunt...

So I just went to Chili's for lunch and REALLY wanted to be good. I found a GREAT meal...

I first ordered the Kid's Chicken Breast Meal. Instead of a drink I just go****er with a slice of lemon (to be sipped before and after meal, not during)

Instead of a regular side (even the seasonal vegetables because it is broccali and my pouch is ANTI broccoli!) I asked for a plate of lettuce.

I also ordered a side of buffalo wing sauce.

I cut up 1/2 the chicken breast, put on top of the lettuce (and let me say the cheapo's gave me a small plate of just lettuce) and poured the side of wing sauce on top...

Meal withy 1/2 the breast 13 proteins 105 calories
Meal with the whole breast 27 proteins 130 calories

Can we say Yummo!

That sounds great. Any idea of the sugar content in the sauce? I worry about sauces and what's in them. But that sounds like a wonderful idea. No problem ordering off the kid's menu?

Kaiser gave me a card verifying me as a WLS patient and asking for permission to order from the kid's menu or senior menu. I've never had to use it but it might come in handy.

A friend last night mentioned he went to a place and they told him that he couldn't order off the smaller menu and that "his medical issues weren't their problem". Needless to say, he got up, walked out and says he will never go back.

I'm always looking for good ideas for eating out.

Do you realize that lots of times restaurants lose money on the kids meal? The idea is that when kids eat out they have an adult with them and that then the restaurant can make up their losses on the adult entree and beverage. Insisting on a child's portion as an adult isn't really fair to the owners/managers of the establishment. Nor to the server, for that matter, if you are basing your tip on a child-priced menu item.

Get a doggie bag and take the rest of a regular-sized and priced entree home with you for later.

Here is the nutritional info for the sauce. It's weird though, it doesn't list sugar. But I dump on sugar relatively easy and can eat the wing sauce no issue

I order off the kid's menu at Chili's and Outback ALL the time because they both offer a boneless chicken breast option. I love it. But I have friends that never have a problem either. They order 1/2 portions and never get any flack. I have the Kaiser WLS card too. But you know I have only been asked for it once.

I'm going to have to try that, actually sounds really good!   I went to TGI Fridays today and there really wasnt anything that I was in the mood for that I could eat, so I asked them if they could do their grilled shrimp without the cajun sauce (is way too sweet!) and if i could only get a half order.   So she brought out one skewer of grilled shrimp with spices and no sauce, and instead of fries I substituted steamed zuchinni... they were really accomodating and I appreciated it!  Needless to say, I'll be going back there, jsut for their willingness to meet my needs.

Great idea... I have a TGI Fridays right next to my house.

I have found that TGI Friday's, Chili's and a few others that have a Guiltless menu... Ok SO not guiltless. the calories still seem insane.. Well now they do..

There are a couple of restaurants that if you tell them you're a WLS patient, they will allow you to get smaller portions. I had a list but I don't have it with me. I'm pretty sure Outback and Applebees are on there though. My nutricianist gave me a card that you can show the manager and they'll let you order kids meals or half portions on things.
