I had to do 4 protein shakes then lunch and dinner was 3 oz of chicken or beef, and a small salad a a couple of oz of a steamed veggie. The first few days are the hardest, it does get better! Good luck.

Tony,
Here are some good options. I hope it helps.
Tom

- B/S Chicken breast topped with salsa and served with f/f black beans

- Salad with no fat/no calorie dressing. It is just OK but acceptable. You can buy it at Wal-Mart. It saved me.

- f/f dairy - yogurt, cottage cheese - Add fruit - for breakfast stir in total or other higher fiber, low sugar cereal

- Lean pork chops topped with microwaved no sugar apricot preserves. Serve steamed veggies. Those steaming bags work great. Use Smart Balance for the butter spread. Butter buds is a nice butter substitute.

- Any seafood grilled.

Hi Tony,

So I went through Kaiser for my preop and surgery and they gave me a 1200 calorie, item specific diet that I was on for 7 months before surgery. I didn't need to be on it that long but I postponed my surgery until after my daughter got married in August. Anyway, I lost 52 pounds on it. I would be happy to send you a copy. It's varied and not hard to stay on at all. If you'll email me, I would be happy to send you a copy. My email is ladyravenfyr at aol dot com.

Maybe it will help. :)

there are so many things you can do to spice things up, but it takes a lot of cooking.

Low carb tortillas are great to make any sandwich a wrap

one recipe that got me completely hooked..

chicken breast cut into bite size sauteed (in olive oil pam) with taco seasoning and black beans mixed all up and toped with FF cheddar cheese and ff sour cream

another variation, ground turkey made with taco seasoning mixed with FF refried beans baked with FF cheddar cheese topped with FF sour cream (and avacado for me my good cholesteral is low)

Any salad mad with the asian seseme spray dressing.. YUMMO!!

Can you tell I like mexican? You can make leftover of these and warm them up for lunch the next day.

I also have a turkey steak asian (with satueed mushrooms) recipe YUMMO!

Good luck, this to shall pass....
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!

I actually did better on 4 protein shakes a day. Could add a 5th if I was super hungry, or meat if I wanted to cheat. That way I didn't have to think about it, it was a very clear yes/no. I know a friend who did shakes and then any vegies she wanted - but no fat to cook them in.
