hey brother..let me tell you this is a tricky one...
for me..and others will tell you there take on it..my head hunger is just a sense that I have to eat something when I should not be hungry..
sometimes I can fight it...sometimes..I'm just not..and I give in...but I dont; go over board..

I get head hunger quite a lot, especially now that I'm so close to my goal weight. I equate head hunger with desire. It's when my mouth wants something even though logically it's not time to eat. I don't feel stomach hunger any longer. If I go too long (more than five hours) between meals, I feel "strange" but not anything I can call hungry. I get a little *****y and agitated. Time to feed the animal. Otherwise, then I know that any "hunger" I'm "feeling" is just desire for sensation, taste, flavor, mouth petting.
What I do during these times is find either a nonfood substitute, something that makes me feel good without it going in my mouth or if that doesn't work then I make a non or very low-calorie treat like a hot cup of strong sweet tea or decaf or SF cocoa. I try really hard to make sure it's something I don't chew because that is just a slippery slope to snacking (which is not allowed on my program) and/or grazing which is the door to weight-gain hell.
So I'd say if you feel hunger and it's not time to eat and the last time you ate, you ate a sufficient amount, especially protein, chalk it up to head hunger.
Hope this helps some.

That's a really good idea. I also sometimes will suck on a SF Halls coughdrop... it hits the flavor center peak of intensity that I think sometimes I need and it is innocuous. I also really like licorice spice herb tea or decaf chai tea. I get craving sweet and that helps. But it has to be really hot. Mostly, I just try to ride it out and not put anything in my mouth. I have to try to break the old habits if this is going to be successful longterm. Maybe I'll just take up thumbsucking again! LOL

Ohhhh.... I'm so scared for you smoking Honey. And that's all I'll say about it.
I absolutely cannot drink fast or through a straw. Liquids actually are the only thing that will make me really nauseated. I took a sip of coffee last night too soon after eating dinner out and thought for sure I was going to lose my dinner on the curb. And I'd rather bleed than puke.
And yeah, I hate getting stuff in my mustache too! Ain't it a ***** LOL
