Dont you hate it when...

I hate when I'm telling someone about my surgery plans and they respond with, " Well, why don't you just eat better and exercise a little? I'm sure you can do it on your own without having to do surgery."

So far everyone I've talked to about my plans have been very supportive but there are a couple people that aren't getting it..lol..

How did YOU respond to that question before your surgery?

I personally think they just need a little kick in the a$$!

I think the people who say that are jealous. The only time people have been really negative to me...is from other heavier people. So I just ASSume it's because I got to have surgery and they didn't. So now I respond with "well good luck with that then".

I usually sit them down and give them an education about my FAILED attempts in the past LOL  that usually shuts them up

I only told 3 of my friends that I was going to do this, 2 of them said pretty much the same thing that yours did. I just looked at them and said: Have you been paying attention for the last 20 years? Do you remember all the times I've lost the weight just to gain it all back and then some?

They have been nothing but supportive since. I think they realized that what they had said was pretty stupid. I'm sure your friends will come around too.

Most of my friends were supportive, or at least came around once I sat them down and told them that I was doing this for me, because I was sick of the failed dieting attempts, and I needed a drastic change to improve my health.  I think that once they saw that I was scared of dying young because of my weight that it made them see things differently.   A few people are still negative about it, but they arent really friends anymore.

Yeah I think that if they're not supportive then they don't need to be around...Doesn't really bother me much...
