Pouch stretching freakout

Hey all, I'm worried.

I'm concerned that I'm eating too fast - I have no problem finishing my meals in about 15 to 20 minutes.  Maybe 30 minutes when I'm having grilled meats.  I'm even faster with slider foods, like chili, soup or eggs.  I can finish a whole atkins granola bar in about 10 minutes.

I noticed that a lot of people on here say it takes them up to an hour to finish off their food, and as I'm not yet to my 3 month point yet i'm starting to get a little freaked out.

Eating doesn't cause me any pain, I hardly ever get stuck anymore, and even drinking isn't an issue.  I can't chug, but if I take a big sip and wait a few minutes I can take a second with no feeling of pressure or pain.  Drinking like this I just realized that I was nearly able to finish about 15 oz of liquid in under an hour.  Drinking like this isn't a pattern for me, I admit, but liquid never causes me discomfort.

I THINK my portions are right - at home I eat out of a 6 oz pyrex cup, usually, and when I eat out I always stop at the first sensation of fullness....but if it passes after 5 or 10 minutes, I may take an extra bite or two if I think I'm behind on my protein.

I'm trying to slow down, but without any kind of pain or discomfort while eating i'm worried that I've already stretched my pouch and botched my chances at making this work.

Someone talk me off the ledge!

*lassoos you around your shrinking waist and yanks you off that ledge*

most of my meals take me 5 - 10 minutes to eat.  no matter how much I chew or wait between bites, I'm still in the 5 - 10 minute range.  Of course I do eat a lot of slider foods but the thing for me, is that slider foods fill me just as much as dense proteins because my surgeon made my pouch super duper small.  If you're still losing weight, then I wouldn't worry about it.  I'm almost 9 months out and I'm just now starting to freak out that my window of opportunity is closing and I'm not going to lose any more......I had often thought I was eating too much and eating too fast but baby....I've lost 216 pounds so my fears were totally unfounded....you'll be the same way.

Thank Bob I'm not the only one!! Umm..I can finish in 15-20. And with soft food ...definitely can get a lot more in, meats not so much. With meats I do feel full pretty quick so I know it must not be that stretched but if I have some yogurt or something....it's a quick "meal".

Brooke, Aaron, you guys are rocks.  Thanks so much for responding so quickly.

I don't know what's going on with me today, my emotions are all over the place and I'm really freaking out over my eating habits.  And everything else.  Gah.

When I look at the few food notes I've kept I can't find anything really, really wrong, but for some reason I'm convinced that I MUST be doing something wrong since I haven't dumped or gotten overfull or taken an hour to eat or drank more than 8 oz in a water or...or...or...

I'm normally a really, really stable person, but I'm just off my rocker today.  Don't know what's setting me off....feeling very wiggy....

from time to time, you will have those feelings of "OMG am I doing ok?" it's totally normal.  the only thing you can do is what you've already done and I'm hoping that the feed bag posts will help you out.  If you are seriously concerned, take your food logs to your nutritionist and hav ethem take a look at it.  I think you're doing great.

I'll probably feel better tomorrow after I get to weigh again.  Last time I got to weight was two weeks ago, and I'd only lost 7 pounds over the holidays.

Hoping month 3 will be kinder to me.

7 pounds over the holidays is FANTASTIC!  I only lost 2 pounds right after christmas and haven't lost since then.

Oh I feel for you!! It hasn't taken me an hour to eat anything since the first few months. I try to eat ONLY dense protein so it will take me 20 minutes, only because I make myself chew each bite 40 times. I have my moments (see previous post "don't blast me" ) I am relatively stable, but once in a while, plateau, not enough or plan PMS get in my way..
I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!

I have a really hard time taking a long time to eat a meal.  I make a concious effort to eat slow, but even so I usually finish a meal in 10-15 minutes.  I sometimes eat south beach diet protein bars, and I can finish one in 10 minutes easily.  I thought there was something wrong with me because I can also drink a lot.  It takes me maybe 10 minutes to drink 8 oz.  But the weight is still coming off, so i try not to worry about it.  You seem to be doing great, and the fact that you are concerned about it is a good sign, i think it means your head is in the right place and you really want this to continue to be successful!
