Ok, so how do I maintain?

I have to say ..and this may sound stupid to some people but I don't want to lose any more weight. Today, I weighed 151 and my goal was 160. The surgeon said at my rate I'll probably get to 140.

When I look at myself nakey ...I'm kinda overwhelmed. For one when I say I am skin AND bones ...I really do mean SKIN AND BONES! I felt more comfortable around 180ish. I evened out this skin a little better and I just looked like a plus size person. Now I'm average but with saggyness every where. Make sense? When I was plus size I was just that. I feel like I don't fit in any where. I'm probably rambling here.

I guess my concern here comes from the fact that I am now smaller than I was in middle school. That was a long ass time ago and I hardly remember that time of my life. I don't know how to get use too this new body of mine.

So now I want to just maintain this weight but not sure how only 9 months out. How do I accomplish this?

It's okay to ramble, esp. around here!  You need to bump your calories by 100-200 calories a day until you stop losing and start maintaining.  Make sure you're adding healthy calories too, and do not start grazing, which can too easily lead to regaining.  Your weight may drop a bit more while you are figuring out how many calories to add, but just be patient with the process.  I've been maintaining at ~180 for about 6 months now, and I average 2000-2200 calories per day (more when I'm exercising regularly).

Regarding getting used to your new body, that'll just take time.  I'm 3+ years post-op and just had 2 rounds of plastic surgery to deal w/ excess skin on abdomen, arms, and breasts.  I'm still working on getting used to my new body too, but it just takes time and hard work (and maybe some counseling sessions, at least for me).

Good luck on your continuing journey!

Hi Brooke:

Hwo funny you say this, my support group (and confirmed by my doctor) just talked about this. They said to KEEP losing weight for as long as your body will allow. When your body is done with the process you will gain 20 - 40 pounds back even if you are following the program to a T. Then you will find it hard to keep the weight off over time if you don't follow the tools that were originally given to you.

So hang on and don't worry, your body WILL stop losing weight and you will put more on.

Good luck!

I have found a new way of life that has kept me at Goal since 2008.. And keeping it that way!
