A new experience

So Z and I are taking off tomorrow afternoon to fly to Phoenix for a four-day leather conference. It's being held in a nice hotel which will be 90% leatherfolk at the conference. I went by myself last year and had an amazing time.

This year, things are quite different. I won't be ordering room service at 10 p.m. or enjoying drinks in the bar with folks after a workshop. Z is going this year and we've agreed that four days of eating out (five if you include travel) can present some challenges. I am nervous about being faced with buffets and lots of eating out. I do pretty well usually but this is a huge event and I tend to like to eat when celebrating or the event is filled with happy people, which this is a good example of. Z has agreed to order only foods that I can eat and I'll eat what I need off the same plate. This also saves money.

Last year, I wore mostly just jeans and shirts. This  year, I'm taking hella/hot/cute clothes. Since they are all so much smaller, I can afford to take more. Last year I took only flat shoes since that was what fit me and I could walk in. This year I have a bag just for my heels (okay and a couple of pair of flats). I still have some body image issues. Less when I'm dressed up really good but still... there will be opportunities for wearing less. Z and I have agreed to only do what feels comfortable and then just push the boundaries some.

I'm also looking forward to sitting comfortably (relatively) in the airline seats, to not asking for a seat belt extender, to doing lots of walking without being winded or sore the next day, to being able to try on amazing leather outfits and corsets that fit (not that I have the budget to buy right now).

So I won't be around after tomorrow morning but I'll be back on Tuesday. I'll miss you all. In a very short amount of time, I've grown to love the support here.

But I'll come back wth stories ... about how well I did with my eating. The other stories you have to know me a lot better for.

Same tree, same branch (or is that switch? LOL), same beautiful leaves! Two of the things that I want when I hit goal and stay there are custom made chaps and a custom made corset! I had a hunch about you and when you get that uniform on, I want pictures... hell, I'll come see you!

I don't know about prepared. I still have to pack and I hate packing. It's times like this I want a ladies maid or boy to just have everything there in the room when I arrive. I always feel a little panicky when I'm leaving for more than overnight. I take waaaay too much and always wish I'd brought one more thing. I'm trying to remind myself that less is more (NOT) and that it's the experiences that count, not what I'm wearing (NOT). Damn! LOL

I will have a fabulous time and will bring back some (work safe) pictures to prove it.
