6 Week Followup

I had my NUT followup today and they altered my eating plan for from here on out.  As many of you know, our program is very restrictive, and its been challenging.  I get to add some veggies and some fruit.  I also get one glass a day of Decaf tea or Decaf coffee.  I am fairly excited about that.

I am at 234 down from a start weight of 274.  40 pounds down in six weeks.  Started at a size 24 and am in an 18.  Thats alot of inches.  I feel like the weight loss has been very slow, which I am sure is enhanced by my scale obsession.  I know it seems strange to say its slow in six weeks, but I guess its just that is seems for the amount of exercise I am doing and the amount of food I am eating that it should just be falling off.  I guess all those years of bad metabolism are taking a while to retrain.

So I am hitting the gym once or sometimes twice a day.  Cardio everyday weight training every other. I am doing a very strenuos eliptical cross training machine that burns like 600 calories an hour, Spinning in an advanced class, water aerobics and stairmasters.  So you would think I was getting in pretty good shape.  However this weekend I went running on our river trial, and I could make about a quarter of a mile before I had to slow to a fast walk.  The impact of the running was really tough.  I am battling muscle fatigue, which I understand is normal.  My NUT says we have NO glycogen stores at all.  She explained that its like when a runner hits a wall in a long run and has to fight it through, we tend to hit the wall just a couple minutes into the exercise because we have no stores.  She said it would get better at about 6 months.  I hope she is right.  Its a little frustrating to only be able to run a quarter of a mile, when before surgery I could run a whole mile.  So any suggestions on things to eat to have more muscle stamina?  She did not really have much to offer as far as how to offset this.

All in all I am grateful that I have lost what I have.  I am just waiting to find that point where i get a big loss!

hey hon!  if I remember correctly by our resident nurse or even foobear that posted a while ago.....glycogen needs water in order to be able to store into your body.  up your fluid intake and see if that helps you out.  in the meantime don't keep thinking that youre weightloss is slow......you have a good 8 to 11 more months of rapid weightloss ahead of you.  summer is around the corner and by that time you should be good to go!

I know you are right about the months ahead of fast weightloss.  HOWEVER in my fat brain I still think its going to stop at any moment.  Thank god for therapy........

I will try the water.  I hope it helps...good idea!
