Just this morning my girlfriend underwent RNY surgery in Indianapolis.  I am living in Ohio and looking for get well gift ideas or gift baskets.  I was thinking of a basket full of protein shake powders and sugar free flavored syrups or something along those lines.  If anyone could suggest an idea for post-op gifts or knows of any websites that ship gift baskets especially for gastric bypass patients I would greatly appreciate it!

Where in Ohio? I grew up there. ANYWAY... I would try to get some protein shake samples for her instead of the big containers. The syrups sounds like a good idea.

Hi there!!!  Try http://www.bariatriceating.com or http://www.vitalady.com  I know the first one does have a protein sampler package bundle that you can get :)

Also try www.unjury.com they have a really good strawberry sorbet shake mix.

You are on the right track, my office sent me a gift basket after my WLS, it was full of fruit and candy bars!

A gift basket of samples sounds good. I know in another area of OH there is a list of post-op supplies. Making a basket of these staples would be nice. If she does not have a Magic Bullet blender, it is a must have.   -- Tom

I am one of many employees where I work that have had WLS last year (there's 10 of us!), and I was number 6 - for employees 7, 8, 9 & 10, my partner and I put together a pretty basket with protein shakes, protein bullets, these little organic hand soups we've found, chewable multiple vitamins, Crystal Light, SF puddings and SF applesauce - all things I pretty much lived on the first 3-4 weeks after surgery.

They all loved it! And each said later on that they found them very useful.

I agree with the others. A basket made up of all kinds of goodies she can eat would be perfect. And, like Tom said..a Magic Bullet would really come in handy...good luck!

I'm from ohio too..
