OK, my sister sent me an invitation to join facebook and I have seen people talk about how addicting it is etc. on here (OH), so I just joined. So now I would like someone to explain this site to me if you would....I don't see anything fun about it.....I can't find anything on it except a search box to look for your friends. I clicked on the chat button and it looks like you can't even chat unless one of your friends is logged on.....where is the fun stuff???
It's a social networking site. You join it and invite your friends to join. It can also scan your email address book and it will look for people who already belong and add them as friends. So, you build up this network. You can see photos, blogs, notes, etc that they post. They can see yours. When you look at their friends, you might find a person you want to be in your network. You invite them.
You can also form or join a group. Many high schools, companies and social groups and cuases have groups. For example, I belong to a group from my HS class, my hometown, my current city and several GLBT causes. A lot of TV shows, personalities and causes have groups. You join them. Again, your network is larger and you can see what is going on with all these people.
A lot of people use it to reconnect with past friends. You can also find people that have common interests. One caution, as you build these networks, remember that everyone can see all of your other friends. There is some control over this but not a lot. Share what you are comfortable with and only invite people into your network that you trust.

Besides that there are apps you can ply. For example I like some of the games. They are cute to play. I play Elven Blood and Vampire Wars etc. There are cute lil things you can send your friends. You can just ignore the ones you don't want.
They have this one app SuperPoke that is really fun. You can write or make comments on eeach others wall
