OT: My christmas story
hey all! i'm finally back from west virginia and I had a great time. i thought I would share with you what transpired for me since seeing my family for the first time since last christmas.
Well I went home for christmas not knowing what to expect. I almost had an anxiety attack on the way home LOL Well i got mom and dad's on Wednesday and my cousin and her husband was there. they were driving up from tennessee and I walked into the back door and came around the corner. i saw them and they saw me. there was silence LOL
Then all of a sudden my cousin screamed and ran over to me and gave me a hug LOL Then mom was still speechless and she came over and gave me a hug and started to cry in my arms. i said "am I that scary looking to make you cry?" LOL She laughed and said that I looked wonderful. Dad gave me a huge hug with a big grin on his face then followed by my cousin's husband.
None of my family had seen me or pictures of me since last december. Mom and Dad only saw one picture of me since the surgery and that was a month after surgery. so pretty much I had only been feeding them how much i weighed and that was it.
My cousin and her husband took off to my grandmother's house while mom and dad and I sat and drank coffee and talked a bit then we took off for grandma's. We pulled up in grandma's driveway and I hesitated to get out of the car because again....that anxiety thing was happening. Well i got out and helped dad in with the presents and I again was met with silence. At first i don't think they knew who I was and then my aunt (my cousin's mother) screamed followed by my other aunt and then my grandmother. I got hugs from everyone and they were all happy to see much less of me LOL
I'm not going to tell you about the presents I got except for two that I will cherish for the rest of my life. My grandpa isn't doing too well. he's had several strokes and constantly gets pneumonia. I figure this is his last christmas. he and my aunt compiled a little book of memoirs told by him and transcribed by her. these were all stories of different periods in his life. Immediately, all the grandkids including myself started bawling as well as our parents LOL I will find me a glass case to put it in because i don't ever want anything to happen to it. before we got the book, we got a portrait done of my grandparents. i almost started bawling. that will be the last picture of them together and they made it where I can hang it on my fridge. they really know how to reach in and yank your heart out eh? LOL
anyway I spent the next 4 days with mom and dad and got home sunday evening. I hope your christmas was as blessed as mine. it will be one to remember for a long long time.

Thank you very much don :) *HUGE BEAR HUGS* to you too. As for being off, i think it has to do with the fact that it is a vacation. yeah a lot of time on your hands that you can be constructive and actually go to the gym, clean your house or whatever but here i am sitting at my computer and drinking coffee LOL I guess it's time to just vegetate.
Well you know it is something I'll treasure for the rest of my life. I'm going to the craft store soon to get a glass case to put the book in. and I knew christmas for me was going to be a lean time financially so in addition to baking everyone's christmas presents I purposely did not send any pictures of my progress to the family since June. I think that was the best christmas present I could give them :)
What an absolutely special and wonderful Christmas! I'm sure your grandpa is happy to know how much healther you are.

yeah......well i'm not sure what he thinks about it. I'm not sure he fully understood what i look like since the last stroke he had almost left him blind. I have to get right up in his face for him to see me and he chews tobacco and you know that stuff just doesn't smell good LOL but Grandma still kicks up her heels at 81 so she knows and is happy :)
Congratulations Aaron waht a wonderful Holiday!
After 9/11 my cousin made us all plaques with a picture of our Great Grandmother in the middle with pieces of the quilts she made on either side. She made one for each cousin. It really meant a lot.
