My mom's letter to Obama

I am so proud to call my mom "my mom".  We should all follow in her footsteps and let Obama know what a mistake he is making......what is this....Bait and Switch??

Dear President-Elect Obama and Team:   I am proud to say that I campaigned for you during the last election, and after you won, I felt hopeful that things would take a turn for the better in America, in the near future.  I am not one to write letters, but I felt I had to share with you the disappointment I felt when I heard of your pick of Rick Warren to do your invocation.  I am the parent of a gay adult child who has to fight discrimination everyday...discrimination that Rick Warren fosters in his church and his community.
I worked hard for you in your campaign, and voted for you...as did my children, and we feel sad and betrayed by your choice of a man who is openly prejudiced and homophobic and has fought against equal rights for gay people.
Please...reconsider your choice...step up and prove to us that we really voted for "change" in America...as you promised!
Don't disappoint us...give us more reasons to hope for better things in the future.  You've done such a great job of your cabinet picks, I know you can do better in choice of clergy for your invocation.
Thanks for your consideration...I'll look forward to hearing who your new pick will be in the future.

Well said! I saw Rick Warren on Today this morning. It is an excerpt from an evening Dateline show tonight. Wow, he is in the stone ages. He was speaking as if GLBT relationships were like animal sex and would not acknowledge the love of two people. He actually said that his gay friends (I doubt if he has gay friends.) tell him, "Why not have sex with anyone you want?" He used it as his main speaking point that GLBT people can NOT have normal committed relationships.

Oh Sommer that is so amazing. My Mom and I haven't had a relationship since I came out. Do you think your Mom would adopt me too? I could really use one..

I'm going to post an article about Rick Warren.

My best friend and her wife live in North Carolina as well. It is a whole different world there. Especially coming from San Francisco. She is orignally from Michigan, so it was an easier transition for her. But I still am sometimes blown away with how much we still have left to do in parts of this country!

I swear where I live is such a bubble we sometimes don't know what reality is.

My friend in NC was in an inter-racial relationship. And it amazed me they had a harder time with the inter-racial part than the gay part.

It baffles me, being from the Bay Area. I swear I love my little bubble. These types of issues just don't happen here.

Time for it to be a world wide non-issue.
