Ok so since July I have slowed down losing. In fact I have been fighting for all 20 to 30 pounds I have lost since July. I know it has only been about 20 pounds since August for sure. Just found out yesterday that Paxil makes you gain weight! Guess what I have been on since July!!! I am soooooo frustrated it's not even funny.

I was on Paxil for awhile years ago and yea, it does make you gain weight. I'm not sure what the cir****tances are behind you being perscribed that (cuz it's none of my beeswax) but I know when I went to the doctor last year to ask about depression medication, I told her that weight gain was a side effect that really concerned me. She got on her computer and did a search (I couldn't even begin to tell you on what site or if it was a data base the doctor's office had) and I was amazed how many different medications there are out there. Many of them don't have weight gain as a possible side effect.

I would talk to your doctor and see if there's an alternative medication that won't leave you so frustrated.

Hang in there sweet cheeks! At least you're still losing!

I am on Wellbutrin and Cymbalta now and he says neither of these causes weight gain. I was told at the office that it has that side effect. The stupid PA that I hate gave it to me.

Paxil is the evil antidepressant that they gave me. I needed a boost with the Wellbutrin and that's what I got. Killed the weightloss. Pissed me off.

Kathy,
Acutally, most anti depressants can put weight on you.  I was on Remeron, for 5 years and got off a year after surgery.  For me, (a food addict) when I am happy, I eat more than when I am down.  Go figure?!!

Hang in there,

OMG!!! I gained 65lbs on that ****!!!!  Know though that you need to wean yourself off the damn paxil, you just should not go cold turkey!!  It really messes with the weight!!  They have other meds they can give you if you want!  I chose to go without due to the weight frustration that it gave me.  Good luck!

I was on 20 mg then it was cut to 10 so he just took me off it and started me on Cymbalta. I can't go without or I will pick fights with everyone here cause i hate the majority of the hubby's family.
