Back from vacation

Back from 10 days in the Caribbean that included a 7 day cruise. Unfortunately more of me came back than left! I gained back 4 pounds. The band really worked in terms of portion size and hunger level. I am pretty sure the $600 bar tab on the ship for us had something to do with it. Mojitos and bloody Marys went down too easy. I think a few pounds are water weight. I hope to get back down to by pre-cruise weight by the end of the week or so.

I had definite issues eating food off the breakfast and lunch buffets. The steam table food is just not moist enough  and generally rubbery and dry. Dinners went fine since cruise portions are so small and the food of higher quality than lunches.

Now, if it wasn't for those damn pool bars, lounges and disco...

Well it sounds like you had a wonderful time!  I'm glad you are able to give feedback on what these different venues offer in regards to food.  I probably won't be taking any cruises any time soon......at least not for about 30 years LOL but it'll give everyone that will be cruising an idea of what to expect :)

Hi Tom,

I'm glad you and Brett had a fun time. The 4 pounds are worth it as long as you had a great time. You'll get those 4 pounds back off in no time...glad to have you back!

Just think it was only 4 pounds. Pre-op it would have been more.  Glad you had a good time. Welcome back!

Tom,
Sounds like you did really well!  I went on a 13 day cruise a year before my surgery and gained 18 pounds.  This man likes to eat!!~ ( :
Drink tons of water and walk a little bit more than normal, and you will be right back in line.
I bet you had a great time though????

Happy Holidays,

We had a ball. We went on a gay group cruise with Pied Piper Travel from NYC. They do a terrific job on GLBT group cruises. We went with them to Alaska and Hawaii. The post Thanksgiving cruise is a tradition of theirs. They get as many as 900 people in the group. This year there were 450 people. I so highly recommend them. Check out my blog at http://jokiescafe.blogspot.com/ t see what we did.

Next year's cruise is a Western Caribbean cruise. We already signed up. It is a cheaper time of year to travel. You can check out this cruise at http://home.att.net/~gaygroupcruises/flyers/11-29-09.htm. I would love to have some folks from this board sail with us.

My eyes are so green right now, instead of their normal blue! Sounds like you had a marvelous time. I've earmarked that flyer, in case we should win the Lotto any time soon - LOL - cause if we do, we are so there!
