Preop done...counting the days

I had preop yesterday with the doctor and the hospital.  Now just waiting for the days to creep by. Cleaning and getting ready to go.  Doing some shopping for all the things I will need.  Got vitamins, need to pick up some broth and jello.  I am going to get packed for the hospital.  From your info I assume I only need underwear and chapstick.  LOL.   My christmas shopping is done, and the tree is up.  I think I am ready.  I am now going to go back to obsessively looking at before and after pics...

Take breath spray! They give you swabbie things but the breath spray helps you make your own saliva. Make sure your partner brings you a pillow for the ride home too. Heck have it at the hospital too. Use it to hold your belly for coughing at the hospital and the bumps on the ride home.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

You are gonna do great, Barb.  I know how tough the waiting can be (I'm having plastic surgery on 12/16, so am also playing the waiting game).  You're right that underwear and chapstick are just about the only things you'll need.  In terms of stuff to pick up, you may also want to get some sugar-free popsicles.  Each one counts as 2 ounces of liquid and since they melt pretty slowly, most folks tolerate them really well.

One other suggestion that you may find helpful is to get a kitchen timer that you can keep with you. I found it helpful to keeping me on track with when I could drink and when I could eat.  (I'm assuming your surgeon has similar rules about not drinking 30 minutes before or after you eat.)  I also kept a small notebook that I jotted down what I ate and drank each day, and noted that I'd taken my vitamins.  That was easier for me so I didn't have to try and remember whether I had something I was supposed to do.

We're warming up a spot on the loser's bench for you already -

Yay for you!

That's a good idea about the pillow!

My preop was today. Gotta get another set of labs and one more iron infusion, pick up my prescriptions. Then I'm done. It feels unreal, like, they are not really gonna do this next week.

LOL at my preop, they kept saying "you should feel as good the day after surgery as you do right now..." "now there will be nausea and vomitting..." "oh, and shoulder pain."  "and your stomach's gonna hurt." "but if you don't feel as good as you do right now... except for those things... don't let them discharge you"
