Hi ya'll! I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving. I'm posting because I know that there are a few folks on this forum who are in the medical field.

I recently was hospitalized (can I EVER get frequent flyer mles out of this????) after fainting while @ the hospital. Turns out I'm being told I have POTS (get your mind outta d gutter) It's Postueral Orthostatic Tatychardia Syndrome.

In a nutshell: I have extremely low BP, sudden swings in Blood Sugars 250 to 35 in 15 mins w/o medication.... rapid heart beating, headaches - sounds a little like dumping but I haven't eaten anyhing and NO.... it's not dehydrations I drink about 8 bottles of Water daly.

Has anyone else heard about POTS and /or any  connection to WLS?

Thanks in advance for any info you may know about this.

I have a friend who's son has POTS, he has had it a couple of years his started earlier than a lot of the cases do. He was around 12 when he started having problems, He is not able to go to school. He has a lot of trouble when he is standing there are times he has to crawl instead of walking to keep from passing out. i know he has a specalist and is on a lot of meds. They hope as he gets older he will out grow this.  Good luck.

Tony, I'm 3 yrs out today and I eat SOME cuban food. I avoid greasy foods, however I do eat pernil, rice and beans and yuca..... In moderation!!!!

Anything in moderation is ok.....

beans and rice... Yucca... Mofongo... and pasteles...  those are some good foods right there.

I'm slowly starting to teach myself to eat small portions, eat them slowly, and enjoy every bite

WOW!  I've never heard of that one -- good luck with the medical treatment.  Sounds scary as well as frustrating.

I have heard of it ....but know very little about it.....I do not think it is very common.......Good luck......and you might want to research it online and find out who the experts are....

Oh,,, Im so sorry that you have to go through that.. I do have an uncle who has POTS... Honestly I dont know anything about it but, he has these little episodes where it will make him sick for a while and then it goes away. He's not WLS.. Has Never been over weight, BP problems, or diabetes.. I know it creeped up on him in his MID 30s and I know he treats it with medication. I seam to remember something about a certain vitamin too. But, he lives almost a normal life except when the flareup**** and then he can be down for a while.

Not in the medicle field but thanks for posting this. I googled it and it sounds like the problems I am having. I have been to the hospital twice for passing out and had a sudden blood sugar drop (we think) and almost passed out from that. I do have headaches and I know I had a rapid heartbeat after the one episode. I will ask the dr about this next time I see him.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
