the rant and rave board

On the rant and rave board this ignorant woman just did a post regarding "The Homosexual"  not cool!!  she is always a ***** or mean on the lap band board, so I guess she needs to be one everywhere!

Does the homophobia ever get old to these people? I mean seriously. With all the things in this world that they could moan about, they gotta pick on the fabulous. 

I vote we make their worst urban legend come true. Let's start a gay mafia. We'll wear rainbow pin striped suits and be armed to the teeth with super soakers filled with bubble solution and chilled martinis. We can do drive by make overs and random gardening.

Don't let this idiot get to you darlin. At the end of the day, if some one has a problem with us, it's just that - their problem. They need to take care of it on their time and not ours.

Please come over to the Midwestbigot post and help me out.. I don't think I am over reacting.. Its this type of thinking that the guy (fish) person WHATEVER is the one that is a sexual predator that feeds the stereotype.. There are people who wont let my son around there children for fear that he will rape them...its sick... Gay does not mean sexual freak...... I may get hung over there but I cant stand by and let this go off as humor

The people who post outrageous and provocative things on these boards are doing so to push buttons and manipulate an emotional response.  It is a "safe" and annonymous forum for them to get a much-needed feeling of power.  Why give them the satisfaction?  Like it or not, they are entitled to express their ignorance, however doesn't OH have a means for people to report racist and homophobic posts?  Perhaps reporting them would help.

In any case, I'm sure there are better ways to combat ignorance and fear.  Perhaps PFlag would have more constructive suggestions of how you can effectively support your son, other than getting into a "battle of wits with an unarmed person" on an obesity website.  Just a thought...

I do those things also.. I guess I am not hardend to this yet and I do get pulled in and if it were me I would not feel the need to defend myself, but Im a mom
