Hair loss...

So I got my hair cut yesterday and my stylist says "Are you losing hair from your weight loss?" and I was like "Yeah, I think so. I've been noticing a lot in my brush and EVERYWHERE". She said as nicely as she could that she could definitely tell my scalp was thinning out.

UGH!

I'm so bummed. I knew it would happen. One lady I met at a support group a month ago lost ALL of her hair, she wears wigs now.

But I guess if I had to choose between hair loss and weight loss ........I'll keep the weight loss and buy a damn wig!

It sucks!  I've been seeing a lot of hair in my comb and have been wondering about it too.  It's hard because my hair means a lot to me from all the years of hating most of my physical attributes.  I could always  count on it to look good.  Sigh.  Hopefully it will bounce back.

Hi Brooke,

How long ago was your surgery?

People have different experiences with this. Some just lose a little, some lose a lot. I'm only 7 weeks out and haven't started losing yet, but it will happen I'm sure.

I haven't experienced it, but some of the people in my support group have and they say it is only temporary, your hair will come back in.

Sorry to hear about your hair loss..yikes!  I was pretty luck in the sense that, I have no hair to loose....and I have a full funcitoning stomach, wheh.

But, If I had hair loss.....I would be freaking out.  Just think how think how thin you will be and the hair will grow back.

I went from super thick hair to "normal" hair. I finally stopped at about 8 or 9 months out. I am worried it will start again due to the last surgery. I used Nioxin shampoo. Kinda pricey but well worth it.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I have always had a problem with hair loss, but I am blessed I have a ton of hair...I am sure it is because I am vegan and protein was always an issue.  I am one month out and my hair loss has improved, but I drink two pro. shakes a day and eat tofu before I eat anything else...so I am sure I get more now-a-days than before.  I hear it comes 4 months out.  I would be sad to lose my hair, but just think how many times I/you can change our hairstyles in a week with wigs!!  Weight loss is more important to me..sounds like for you too.  I hope your hair stops falling out!!  BUt I  you are still sexy anyhow!!

Woohooo thanks! No one has said I'm sexy besides my girlfriend. It's nice to hear it from someone else :)

I was actually thinking about what kind of wig I'd go for ....blonde? Red? Ahh..so many options!

I know some of the ladies on the maryland board take Biotin or something like that to prevent hairloss or at least slow it down some.  But if you wanna go the wig route, that's awesome!  I'm naturally bald so I guess I'm lucky in that respect.......but luckily I haven't lost any of my beard :)
