When does the bowel prep kick in???

Ok I am supposed to be at the hospital tomorrow morning at 9am....They told me to drink a 10oz bottle of citrius of magnesium (sp)....I did that at 10am this morning....it is now 3:30pm and nothing.........How long does it take? I am getting nervous that it wont work on me and my bowel wont be clean enough.

did  you chug it or sip it...

it is ment to be drunk quickly...

I think you should have had something happen...

I chugged it really fast, and then drank a lot of water afterwards.

I feel it churning ( TMI )...but nothing is happening

Mine kicked in with in an hour of taking it, it lasted 5 or 6 hours. Good luck

My surgeon didn't make us do one, but I had to do one a few years ago before another surgery. My surgeon then made me do 2 doses, the first one did nothing, but the second one, well, let's just say wow and leave it at that....

If you have been on a liquid diet, there maybe nothing in there to come out, and the prep may just be a precaution. I wouldn't worry about it.

I did use mag citrate after my gall bladder surgery cause I was getting sick. I drank it at night and the next morning I was going and going and going. I felt like the crapping Energizer Bunny. Glad you went.
