Update on my child support situation
I got a letter yesterday saying that because both of my kids with my ex are both 18 and 22, that child support has been terminated. However, because the records from CSEA show an arrearage of $10,077.77 still exist, I will continue to receive child support payments for $212.16 per month till all arrears are paid in full.....![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/cool2.gif)
I am happy about this basically because my ex walked out on my kids 15 years ago, and didn't pay his child support. I'm glad they found him and that he is being made to pay. BUT..he is good at quitting jobs. I'm trying not to get too excited about this yet..time will only tell if it really happens...

Good for you!! Why is it that the "other" parent often thinks they don't have to pay for their kids to live? My friend in WV has a 10 yr. old whose father is supposed to pay three hundred something a month. It's mid November and he has yet to pay a full month this entire year. For about 5 months she got nothing from him then last month, $60.00. He doesn't return his daughter's calls, doesn't pick her up for visitation and she sits looking out the window waiting, waiting, waiting. He didn't even go to her b-day party this year. She had pneumonia and was home from school for a week. My friend works as a server for $2.13 an hour + tips. His daughter, his only daughter asked him to come stay with her so mom could go to work. His reply was, "What's wrong with your mom that she can't stay home with you?". He never even called back to see if she was okay. These kids and their custodial parent deserve every penny they get and in most cases more.
Sometimes I wonder what is better for a child. A dad that only sees them when it convenient for him, or a dad that totally walks out. My 18 year old doesn't even remember his dad. All he remembers is a guy wearing glasses playing with him. But my daughter who is 22 does remember him and I remember her watching out the window hoping he would come to see her. It broke my heart. But what was worse was not having the answers when she asked why didn't her daddy come see her? That was so hurtful to look at her and say I don't know. I would try to say he was busy, or maybe he was working, but after a couple years, that didn't work anymore.
I feel bad for your friend and her daughter. These deadbeat dads don't realize the scars they are creating in their own children...it's unnecessary and very painful. I wish your friend the best. I know first hand that she is going through a lot..my thoughts are with her!

They have his social so they should be able to track him down even with changing. I know when I was 18 I got the same letter from the system. My Mom turned it over to me and said it's your money, if you want it get it. At that point I wanted nothing to do with him. He owed 13+ years of support for me. Not much back in the day but it could have paid for the first part of college.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Congratulations Lisa! I hope you get to see every cent.
Aren't you due to have your surgery soon? I can't remember whether you have had it, are about to have it, or still in the beginning stages of the journey.
