I finally found you all....

Hello everyone...

I've been on this forum for a while, but never moved past the main "lapband forum" page. I am a 44 y/o gay male and married to a wonderful man. I am having lapband surgery on December 8, 2008. Yes, I'm going through the entire range of emotions from excited to anxious to completely going crazy thinking about the 10-day liquid diet.

Each day is chaning for me as I moved towards the surgery. Thank goodness for a really great therapist! Since therapy I haven't had a true "binge" in 5 months. I am trying so hard to be accountable and stay in control, but I think I am having the "last supper syndrome" happening at this time. My mind is racing and I keep telling myself..."Will I ever have pizza again?", "Will I ever have the dagwood that I dream about in my sleep?"

I'm assuming that everyone went through all of these same emotions and perhaps I just need to relax or find the right combination of chemicals to calm me down!!!

Hi Don! Welcome!!  Glad you found the OH hidden board!!   I think you are right on track with all the emotions that come with surgery!!!  It will be here before you know it!! 

Welcome Don! I'm having my VSG on the 9th, so I'll be right ahead of you. This is definately one of the strangest times of my life. I have a strict mandate to loose weight ahead of the surgery. So my last supper was a huge low carb dinner out  the first weekend of this month. I am trying to lean more and more on protein shakes, stay low carb, and decrease the real food in preparation for that liquid diet. I did seven days of clear liquids + protein shakes. It is hard, but doable, and I suspect easier to stick to knowing there is a presurgical weight in at the end of it.

Thank you everyone for the kudos and most welcomed thoughts. It is nice to know that I'm not doing this alone and, although not knowing you all, fell surrounded by folks that care, plus understand. Have a peace filled Sunday!

Don, Welcome! I had lapband on 7/16/08. There are super nice folks in this forum. I think you will find it to be your home. I know what you are going through. This has been quite a journey for me. WELCOME !!!  I AM A BANDER !! GOT BANDED ON 8/29/07....STARTED AT 310.......NOW 220.....BUT HAVE BEEN LAID UP  NO EXCERSIZE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS......IN PHYSICAL THERAPY (STARTING THIS WEEK) .......GOAL OF 200..............IT CAN TAKE A WHILE BUT IT IS GREAT !!!!
I WAS VERY CONSERVATIVE AFTER SURGERY ....I LIVED ON 5 CANS OF SLIMFAST OPITMA.....AND 1-1.5 LITERS OF WATER.....LOST 40LBS IN THE 1ST 2 MONTHS
