Cindy, you had the LapBand so you should be fine just taking one multivitamin and the RDA of calcium citrate and iron.  Let your lab work be your guide.  Hold steady on things that are in the normal range and increas the things that are in the low range.

B12 was mentioned at one of the meetings I went to....taking it in liquid form under the tongue.  I have some and take it occasionally, but wondered if I should be taking it regularly.

I have blood work next week, so I will find out more after that.

THANKS!!

Here's the deal with B12.  It is plentiful in meat.  But, it must bind with something called intrinsic factor (IF).  IF is produced in the lower part of the stomach.  Then, the B12/IF compound is absorbed in the ileum portion of the small intestine.

Since your stomach is intact, you should not have any problem with the B12 binding with the IF and absorbing in the ileum.  Your issue will be getting enough meat in, so you can take an oral form of B12 and be fine.
