What I don't understand is why he is speaking so much more forcefully now AFTER the election.  Before then, it seemed to me that he was against Prop 8 passing, but didn't invest a whole lot of political capital opposing it.

It's almost as if Obama's election gave him space to be forthcoming, but given that he's a Republican (albeit a bit of a "maverick"), I don't know what's possessing him right now.

He is only speaking now because it is safe...  Obama has won, his party is not at risk and he can not run for anothe term as Gov....
