If I dont die of a heart attack it will be a miracle...
So I am waiting for my surgical consult and one more roadblock appears! Our hospital was having financial difficulties, and seeking a buyer. It was two days from closing the doors, and a corporation stepped in and bought it. They promptly cancelled all the contracts with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. It is now an out of network provider. I have been freaking out! SO after several days of trying to reach someone who knows what the heck happens now, i spoke to the director of admissions and they have agreed to allow everyone in the approval process for surgery to continue as if they were in network, and will not pass any of the costs on to us. WHEW. Seriously. Thought I was gonna have to go in there with a machine gun. It was going to turn my out of pocket cost from 1200 to 5400. ICK! So alls well that ends well. You guys must have your magic fingers crossed super tight for me!
You really have been through the wringer with this surgery. When you finally go in, we are all gonna party! Glad things can proceed!

Wow! That is really amazing!
I wonder if they would put that in writing for you just for your own peace of mind. I'd hate to see you do a post in a few months that with the new administration there was a screw up. Not tryin to be insensitive in any way. Just sayin with big changes like that the left hand sometimes doesn't talk to the right hand and you wanna make sure you don't get caught in the middle.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats a story I hope I dont have to live myself. Oh my god... You have to think that the new owners off the hospital would have looked like HUGE A-HOLES if they didnt work this out for you. I am sure the new owners dont want bad press now. Do you know what corporations BOUGHT the hospital?? They might improve the service there. Its not always a bad thing when that happens.

The community is freaking out. The first day they laid off 150 people to break the union. Big huge deal. We are not that big of a city, and it was a huge deal. Prime is the company and the owner has a big history of buying failing hospitals and turning them around. Hopefully he will be successful as this is the only facility around!
